Prepare to be highly disappointed in the atmosphere of Baton Rouge if you are all used to Athens. Might just want to stick on campus for tailgating.
Have you been to BR in the past 5 years? There’s been so many new places and developments popping up, it’d make your head spin. BR is getting up there, and I love it.

This is a pretty solid list
To OP - if yall graduated two years ago you have probably outgrown Tigerland (Fred's, Reggie's, JL's, etc.) and Bogies.
As Sev09 said, the Bulldog is a good spot for your age range. Rum House is right next door to Olive or Twist and is also pretty good and both are not too far from campus.
Creole Cabana is located at the new Oasis beach volleyball complex. Haven't been to the restaurant yet but the little hangar-type area is great and has a pretty good bar. Also there's a 20 ft. TV that will be showing the game.
ETA: Also, if the street is named after a state or a president, DO NOT go down it.

From who??
(Assuming we’re talking about Highland) Plenty of people recently. My recent visits have seen a decline in quality. A lot of focus has been put towards Creole Cabana, so I’m sure that played a part.

Don't walk north of campus past state street. It gets bad fast.
I always say once you pass the Weinerschnitzel, you’ve gone too far.

Eh, the crowd tends to be a little bit older at Freds and Bogies the Friday night before games due to the recent grads coming back in town. I don't think they would feel too old for either if a college bar scene is what they are looking for.

Tigerland may be your style if you're just out of college.
Stay clear of Tigerland unless you don't mind getting into a fight.

True - I just did the math and realized they'd only be around 24-25. Fred's isn't bad and Friday is free drinks if they are coming in the night before. I haven't been to Bogie's in years but the last time I went was for the Auburn/LSU game and you could hardly move in there. Also I'm sure at least one of them (probably Fred's) will have the outdoor tent and/or potentially live music.

Stay in New Orleans and come up for the game and go back to Nola. That’s my best advice.
Yeah, and when you visit Athens, stay in Atlanta.
Sure, they should stop by if they have time and have never been, but this is a college football trip. You can fly into New Orleans for a weekend whenever you want.

Chimes sucks. Do not go to that overrated arse place. Still can’t believe the dumbasses that voted that place the best all around restaurant, 225 magazine is a JOKE

Chimes doesn’t suck at all. Overrated, maybe. But still one of the oldest and most consistent BR staples.

I eat better at the Bulldog, pluckers..

Just be on campus super early. The best tailgating is near the Indian Mounds. Be there for the Tiger Walk. Wear your colors and smile and you will eat and drink free as much as you want. Hang with the 30 and older crowd and avoid the student areas. There’s always that one idiot. Avoid him.
The Chimes or Walkons on Friday are both great . Between the two the Chimes is far superior.

I've been going to Baton Rouge for games since 1999, but have never lived in or near Louisiana. These are some of the places we try to make sure and hit when we go down.
Food:
Parrains
Acme
Sammys
Tio-Javis - Used to be Ninfa's. Haven't been since they rebranded but heard it was the same.
Chimes
Bar:
Chimes
Ivars - Been going here literally since I was a kid, had to sit out back. It's picked up a lot of popularity in recent years I feel.
Freds - College scene. Lots of fun nights. $10 all you can drink on Fridays until 10pm or at least it used to be. Unfortunately I'm aged out of this by both age and ability to recoup on Saturday.
Gameday:
Chimes is an awesome atmosphere
Walk around the parade grounds just to get a feel
Indian Mounds area on the North side of the stadium has some great tailgates and friendly people. You can start conversation at any of them and have a good time.
Deal with a couple of Tiger Bait's, be friendly, and have a good time. Try to drink as much Abita as you can. Like everywhere, most people will treat you very well. I didn't make a home game last year and don't think I will this year. Killing me.

most people in their 20's don't care about this but, get to your seats early and watch pregame. best in america and it will be lit for the uga game.
personally, i think the band coming down the hill is pretty awesome but, i understand young people need to be out chasing tail, getting wasted and fighting.
walkon's gets a bad rap. they have plenty on the menu that i really like; cajundillas, mahi sandwich, blackjack chicken sandwich, etc. typical sports bar atmosphere. those guys work hard to get it right.
sev's list is pretty much definitive. he hit the best spots but as he said, there are so many more options now. great places have been springing up left and right. he didn't mention city pork. the location at perkins/interstate is awesome.
gameday, just wander around. laugh when someone yells tiger bait. wear your uga gear and crash tailgates. you'll be fed properly.
campus is changing. lsu is working subtly to eliminate tailgating. it's not the scene it used to be. parade grounds is frat central.
