Mine are still hanging around. Especially dusk and dawn.

Here's some neat feeding pics posted by a lady on the La. Birding Facebook page,

Got a green one just like that. There is only one other that is bigger and all brown. The green one fights it off.

Still have about 10 fighting each other over 5 feeders in Central
Haven’t been able to get any good pics yet but they are fun to watch

That could be a Rufous Hummingbird. In the summer 99.99% of hummingbirds in Louisiana are Ruby-Throated Hummingbirds. But this time of year almost all leave. And a few odd strays show up from locations all over the western US. The Gulf Coast is holding more and more wintering hummingbirds and Baton Rouge and south Louisiana is included in this. It's worth keeping a feeder up all winter just in case because some really interesting species can show up. Some houses with lots of winter flowers and feeders can attract 4-5 species all winter. The idea that if you keep a feeder up it will prevent hummingbirds from migrating is widely believed nonsense.

Yeah Tigris, I had an immature rufous over the Christmas holidays a fews years ago. I called Fred Bassett in an attempt to band the bird but the hummer apparently moved to another location. Here's Fred in action. LINK

I had about 15 for a few weeks...they must have all left at same time, haven't see one in a few days.

It was interesting. For 2 weeks all they did was fight. Last few days they were emptying my feeders and then vanished.

Our bander is Fred Dietrich out of Tallahassee. He got a young male Ruby-throated at my house a couple of years ago in mid-January. The two Fred's have nearly identical setups.

I neglected to refill for 24 hours or so. Must have been all that many needed to move on. I did a full cleaning of my 6 feeders and refilled. Numbers went from teens to hand full just like that. Cool weather coming this week. I kinda want to hold out a bit for a rufous. I had one visit before.

What do y’all do for bees? I’m getting smoked by bees and my hummers cant get to the feeder without dodging bees. I’m taking like 10-15 bees per feeder.

Bees and wasps are attracted to those yellow flowers that so many feeders use. Buy the feeders with all red or at least no yellow parts.

Yep the bees took over my feeders too. Which is not a big deal to me. My dad is a bee keeper and nature is nature so the native species wins this round. Feeders are still out but I didn’t see a bird today.

I’ve got no yellow on my feeders. I’ve been trying to not have any nectar spill on the outside to try and minimize the smell. Seems like a little improvement.

Same here. Two weeks ago there were a couple dozen around all 6 feeders. Haven't seen but 1 in last 2 days.

dwindled down to about 5 birds last week. The front pushed through Wednesday and I saw only one on the feeder. Haven't even seen him all weekend.
They must've hauled arse.
