same here... they say he has patience when he runs... Another poster said it perfectly... tentative runner... honestly, that is NOT good... A running back hits the hole at 100 mph and nothing less... A RB delivers the blow. its what made Hester, a 3* so good and so valuable... Deliver the blow and run with passion... be hard to bring down... that is all i care about in a RB... The line should do the rest..

I felt worst for him during that South Carolina fumble. You could tell he was behind guice and fournette and knew he blew his chance at getting meaningful reps.

Brossette will do just fine. The jackasses on here not withstanding.

We’re going to need all our RBs to contribute if we’re going to have an effective offense. Looking forward to seeing him.

Always makes me chuckle when people believe they actually care more about the team's success than the head coach.

I am getting an uneasy feel that reminds me of Les Miles playing players he likes, vs the best we have.
A. LSU has four unproven RB's (two being true freshman). How does any fan know who is "the best we have" at this point?
B. Ogeron has seemingly gone out of his way to criticize Brossette. I don't think there is any "favoritism" there. Do you remember the "I didn't know our third string RB was going to get the ball" quote? He didn't even call the kid by his name. Or this year when O said Brossette was going to be a "great" player, then immediately stopped himself to change that description to a "good" player? I don't get any sense whatsoever that O would play Brossette just because "he likes" him. In fact, just the opposite.
Brosette was buried behind two of the best RB's LSU has ever had, plus a pretty damn good third back (Darrell Williams). That's not to say Brossette will be great (or good) by any means. It's just that the opportunities over the last 3 years have (understandably) been few and far between. Then when he's had his chances, he's had some fumbles. Most notably vs. Troy. I think O kind of hung too much of the blame on that one play when it really was an overall team AND coaching staff debacle.
He doesn't appear to be a guy who is going to create his own space (like Guice) or someone who has the power/speed combo of Fournette (who does?). He reminds me a bit of Alfred Blue. A bit of a straight-up running style who kind of glides and makes subtle cuts. He definitely needs the O-line to give him a seem, but he's generally able to get through it for success when they do. No one expects him to set the world on fire, but assuming he can hold onto the ball, he can probably be a serviceable back.

No idea what he was going through. But you can’t be a leader on a team and cry because you fumble.

Brossette can however. We need him to.

I know what his ranking was. This is my reevaluation. So far, he's been sun belt level.

I really hope Brossette does well.
But the kid has 40+ carries and 4 fumbles. That's 10 percent of his carries. That's not good.
Is he gonna fumble 10% of the time? Probably not. But that is a lot of fumbles for 100 carries, much less 40+

Never really recovered from his knee injury. (Probably more mental than physical)
I kinda get this impression but he's also been behind some really, really good backs.

Tentative runner.
Lacks vision.
I mean... maybe? In the few of opportunities he's gotten, he's put up pretty good numbers. Averaging just shy of 7 yards a pop. Maybe he'll show us something with more touches. Or maybe he won't get more touches. I'm just not sure how one can make these statements about him being tentative and lacking vision when in the opportunities he's gotten he's actually done pretty well (Troy fumble not withstanding).

I don't think you can totally not take his HS success into account. He has some very good natural cutting ability and vision that contributed to his success on that level. [link=See here.

Of course, this is the SEC but he has shown flashes of what he can do. If you watch this compilation of Guice, Williams, and Brosette, he had a 2-3 decent runs, especially [link=the one at 6:45]LINK ].

I want Brossette to come out and dominate so badly...kid gets a lot of hate, and even his HC referred to him as “our third string running back” when saying he didn’t even know he was in the game on his show last year.

To me it’s about ball security. He’s 220lbs n great shape. He’s a tough runner and can shoot through a hole but after his injury he lost that confidence like all backs do when they first get healthy. It took Blue 2 years to get his mojo back. He had to sit behind 3 great Backs that had NFL talent. Then he fumbled which really faaaked him up. If he can get imo 10-15 carries where he holds onto the ball I think he’s gonna gain confidence and have a solid year. We have stud run blockers so I expect this RB group to have success.

He will be better than most are giving him credit for. I think he will be a nice surprise for the following reasons:
1. The kid has talent. Obviously, not a Guice or Fournette but we have won with less talent at RB than those two.
2. He has had to wait for his turn and had time to learn and mature.
3. If Burrow can play up to expectations, Brossette will most likely not have to run against the 8 man front with everyone keying on him.
4. If he can stay away from turning the ball over he has actually had a few decent runs the past couple of years and with CHE being able to get some touches, should keep him fresh and able to hit the hole hard which he has shown the ability to do
Your not going to have a Guice or Fournette every season. It’s just not realistic. Not many people thought that Ridley or Ware were the backs they turned out to be. The kid has shown heart and waited his turn and I think in the end he will prove he belonged

In this offense, a pass-blocking RB may be much more important than in past years. His experience and willingness to protect the QB may be a valuable asset to have.
Jacob Hester agrees! And yes, his knee injury really set him back. Some guys just never mentally come back from that.

I don't really understand this question.
Do you think that because he is a good guy, good character, etc. he deserves playing time?
