Honestly one thing that burnt me out too was Tony Stark. His character and shtick just got played out.
Everything just became a comedy with him. The 1st Avengers and Civil War were basically Iron Man 4 and 5. It just got old seeing him as the front man in so many movies.
What! They've used that character FAR better in the later phases than he was used in Iron Man 2 and 3. He's by far the superstar of the MCU. I completely disagree that he's overused.

Even though Iron Man 3 wasn't very good, I'd still say it's average because I can watch it without wanting to flip it off immediately.
If that's the worst they've ever done, their track record is pretty clean.
That was honestly one of the worst movies i've ever seen. It was equally as bad as Batman and Robin or Elektra. The ending to that movies was one of the most ridiculous things i've ever seen. I was laughing out loud in the theater.

i've been done for a while now. will still watch occasionally if i'm bored, but couldn't make it through newest avengers or thor. i just couldn't be bothered to remotely give a shite. The last one i genuinely enjoyed was the R rated Logan.
I've come to the conclusion that I just don't give a frick about comic book movies. The only one i love is the Dark Knight, and probably because it's more of a crime epic than an actual comic book movie.
And these opinions are just based on my interest in the genre, don't get me started on the overall negative impact it has had on the movie industry, and the kind of movies that studios will only back with big money.

No I know he's the superstar. That's one of the things I dont like. You had a captain America movie that he was the star of, if you didn't know the title of civil war just watching it you would have thought it was an iron man movie. With the avengers, it was almost like it was another iron man movie.
It's the avengers, why would I want one of them to be a superstar? Rename it Iron Man and the Avengers if that's the case.

Congratulations on skipping some really entertaining movies
Not sure why you’d do that but more power to you I guess.

Super hero movies are the art form of the moment.
By all means, avoid them.
It would be like avoiding Westerns when that was Hollywood's go to genre. In which case you would have avoided some of the greatest movies of all time.
Super hero movies currently attract some of the best actors, the best young directors, and the best screen writers. The gent making that darling Indie movie that you love?
Yeah, he's putting his name forward to direct Ant-Man 5.
You would be better off watching the good movies that come out, no matter the genre, and avoiding the bad ones.

1. Im just burnt out on them and on certain characters.
2. I dont like that type of entertainment as much anymore, and the story lines are pretty similar as a whole.
3. I honestly believe it has dropped the quality of movies overall and now people are just scrambling to make any comic book movie possible or remake them if they dont have a ton of success. I understand they make a ton of money, so im not hating on them for that.

I'd just disagree here, because this one isn't a personal opinion.
There are PLENTY of non-comic book movies made every year. I am so far behind in watches that i can't keep up anymore. There is so much to watch from studios like A24 and Blumhouse. Tons of creative, awesome stuff running through every single genre. More than there's ever been honestly.

I've been boycotting superhero movies since they started coming out.
Because I'm not 13 anymore.

I think this is a lazy sentiment. You're basically saying I'm not going to give a movie the time of day, even if I know I might enjoy it, because I don't want good movies of THAT genre.
If Marvel goes downhill, I'll stop watching, but they keep delivering home run after home run after home run.
Why would I, as a consumer, penalize a studio that consistently makes great film? That seems counter-productive. If you've never really liked superhero movies, I could understand. But if you've liked some of them and just arbitrarily decide to boycott a good studio because of some pseudo-philosophical stance, it seems like you're the one who comes out the loser.

Congrats on missing some great movies. Some of those are legitimately good movies on their own. How is all you watched Jessica Jones?! It’s a decent show but jeez even Daredevil and Defenders should be before JJ.

Cmon man don’t bring this here if you want to discuss quality films. These people love superhero movies because they are directed at 14 year olds and are easy to understand
What did you expect from a board with a 1000 page thread discussing big brother?

This is a cry for attention. If you don't like them then don't watch them. To start a thread over movies that have done well with the public with a story arc spanning ten years? Come on man, that's an accomplishment.

I would expect you too. And then when he's directing Aquaman 4... well... its OK.
Some will hold out. Most won't. People will go where the talent and money is.

Eh. I completely agree that you would have missed out on some of the greatest films of all time, westerns is possibly my favorite genre of all time. But most of them were spaghetti westerns. They made a ton of them partly because they were really cheap to make.
They dont make westerns as much any more, i doubt it's bc the stories arent there, but bc they are expensive.
If you're going to make an expensive movie, it's much safer for you to make a comic book movie than it is a western.
