The fail was not in our qbs transferring

Quarterbacks transferring is the nature of the beast in college football today. Virtually every top scholarship qb at a major school sees himself as being in the NFL one day. If one five star sits behind another five star, he is likely to leave. Even Saban and Alabama are not immune to this problem.
The fail for LSU is not having a qb in their 2018 class. A true freshman qb is usually willing to give it a year or two and not insist on starting right away. Getting two qbs in one class sets up an eventual transfer. You need one in every class.
Had LSU got one talented qb in their 2018 class, we would have three scholarship qbs right now. Its risky going into a season with just two qbs. Ohio State won a national championship with a third string qb.
I am fine with Narcisse and McMilan leaving, neither one has ever been a very accurate passer. I just wish we had a true freshman qb who we could be developing now and who could be a failsafe if Burrow and Brennan turn ankles in the same season.
Not getting a qb in the 2018 class became a bigger fail today.

Especially considering there was a top 50 kid in Shreveport this past season.
Who is the area recruiter for Shreveport, again?

Seems better to take one QB every class rather than 2 in 1 and miss out the following year?

should take 1 qb every class. maybe one day LSU will learn this.

How are you going to get a highly ranked QB with three QBs in front of them? And we would have plenty of depth if Burrow didn't transfer in, but now we have a starter and a competent back up with two more guys that could play if had to. I'll take Burrow over that depth any day!
Maybe its time LSU starts recruiting guys that can actually throw the ball and not runners.

Agreed.
While I am not too worried about this year, my biggest concern is that the culture has not changed at LSU and Coach O is not doing anything to fix the QB issues we had under Miles.

Most top teams get a top qb in every class. They come because of the three ahead of them, one might graduate, one might leave early, one might get hurt, one he thinks he can beat out and one might transfer.
Most any top school that takes a freshman qb has at least three on the roster in front of him.
LSU knows this, they tried to get a qb in 2018 and swing and missed. It was a major recruiting fail at that position, I think Orgeron would admit that in provate.

Justin Rogers had a major knee injury last year and his recovery is not guaranteed. He is not even fully cleared at TCU yet and will redshirt this year to complete his rehab.
While certainly LSU could use him, if his injury is OK, he would not be a factor this year and is irrelevant to the current situation.

UGA did it like 3 years in a row

Other schools take them and somehownthrow and run for more than our QBs.

the fail was expecting things to go smoothly after making a 59 year old tight end's coach the QB coach. You seriously think he has the mind to know how to utilize LN?

Please delete this. This does not fit the narrative in this thread.

Based on what? We have no game evidence. Once we see the offense in game situations with Burrow and Brennan then we can determine if your concerns are valid.
If we are ranked in the top two or three in offense and the quarterbacks are involved then we should be able to erase the Miles stain.

Good post, can't argue with the facts and logic.
Losing one of the SOPH QB's was inevitable IMO. One would eventually start, other would not, and likely transfer.
Losing McMillan, with Burrows joining the team as the projected starter (and now watching him perform), can't be surprising to anyone.
We whiffed last recruiting cycle on a qb. No point in admiring the problem, do something about it. Holding on to Parrish is critical, and adding another qb for competition (to see which one eventually takes the reigns down the line) is not a bad idea.
Move forward, and I'll start rubbing chx bones together asking for healthy qb's in 2018!

The OP Johnson is right. You always take a QB in every class. You always take at least 1 RB in every class. This is not rocket surgery, in which case Ogre would be quickly excused.

What on earth does his age have to do with anything?
