Who’s the last LSU Athletic Director that was liked?

I’ve seen formally popular people get heavily criticized as athletic directors such as Joe Dean and Skip Bertman. Really it’s a no win job!

Skip did institute a lot of fees but he did hire some great coaches and built the program to be very well funded with good facilities. He built a good foundation for Joe to work with. Unfortunately for Joe it's all about bringing in as much $ as possible without a good experience or teams to show for it. Any success we've had since Joe took over in terms of championships have been done in spite of him, not because of him. That is why he needs to be relieved from his position.

Correct, Joe Dean was de-nutted by this point and thank goodness.
Head of Board of Supervisors, TAF Head and Emmert were in the meetings with Saban and his agent. Dean didn't even make the trip.... Dean was a real piece of shite much like his buddy Charlie Roberts, lying piece of shite that stole from the Alumni association for years

Its a difficult job because some are going to be unhappy no matter what you do. But it's easier if you don't make crappy decisions like, I know what I will do, I will replace SEC,NC coach with a guy who was 10-25 the last time he was a HC because he's Cajun guy with a binder of things he wants to do.

Joe Dean would just nickel and dime the shite out of the athletic department, much like Joe Alleva has done. There's no perspective of spending money wisely to make money.

Joe Dean was the AD at that time, but he gets no credit for this hire. Mark Emmert was the chancellor at the time, and he took charge of the search from Dean and was the driving force for the hire of Saban.
