Got it narrowed down to Kitchen Aid or JennAir. Both companies are under the Whirlpool Corp umbrella for the most complete service and warranty. JennAir is about 20% more, but considered more upscale. Is it worth the extra for JennAir?

No, not in my opinion. Jenn Air is geared more towards the "Pro-Sumer." KitchenAid is geared more towards the consumer, albeit still at a higher price point than many of your standard lines.

No experience with Jenn Aire. My first house had Kitchen Aid, no problems, ever. Built a house later and went all Viking. Biggest mistake ever. Every piece had to be repaired at some point and I was in that house less than 3 years. Next house we went back to Kitchen Aid, going on 10 years and no problems.

Recently renovated my kitchen as part of a larger reno geared towards selling the home. Went with a full-on kitchen and I did all Jenn Air appliances. Nice stuff if you have the budget. Did a 48” stove w six burners and griddle / dual ovens, drawer microwave, warming drawer, beverage center, dishwasher and a Hoshizaki ice maker because I wanted the Sonic ice. Would buy again if I was building for myself.

We've had good luck with our KitchenAid appliances. We still check out Consumer Reports ratings before we buy though.

You need to get Napoleon’s advice on the subject. That guy is like the beard of knowledge on Pawn Stars when it comes to appliances.

We almost went with their gas cooktop from Best Buy. Ended up going with Bosch induction.

I own one, but it is for my outdoor kitchen.

Does it put off a lot of heat inside?

Yes. Microwave - great for 7 yrs. Electric stove top - 1 year glass surface scratched out of warranty; 5.5 years needed service on one or the burners (heating coils) @ about $350.00. Never again! Washing machine recalled, repaired at no expense to me, but no, never again.
Wife and I agree- no more Samsung household appliances.

Just replaced a 5 yr old Samsung fridge that had been worked on 3 previous times. Nothing but trouble and the latest repairman said he wouldn’t work on Samsung

talking with a couple repair guys and reading reviews, I went with straight up Whirlpool and am happy with them. Been pretty nice the first 6 months so far.

We put Kitchenaid in all our new construction and haven't had call back in 5 years since we switched.

Before that we used Bosch (500 series) and it was solid as well.

Edit - repair guys love Whirlpool, Samsung is hot garbage.

I’ll tell you that Jennair’s warranty dept is a pleasure to deal with. Felt like I was dealing with a local person that was happy to help. I’d buy again based off of this alone.
