Because the Comal goes thru New Braunfuls city limits. The Guadalupe doesn’t.
Yes it does. They both do

Float San Marcos instead
Went last weekend. San Marcos city park by the school has gotten WAY too crowded, so skip that. Go to Dons instead(google it), or Texas State Tubes. Its outside the city limits and anything goes. Do the city float if you have small kids, the outside the city ones are more of a party scene.
Also, if you do the Guadalupe i recommended going further west up river where the laws don't apply. Rocking R and other companies have floats up there.
FYI, its a major drought this summer down there so the Guadalupe is very slow. San Marcos and Comal are good. Double check the river flow rates, the higher the faster

Another tip- New Braunfels passed a law where you have to pay to park on city property, so its min $25 to park anywhere near the Comal or Guadalupe. That has added to the massive crowds in San Marcos where its free parking. Some lots are charging $40-$50 to park in NB.

while true. the float trips have been altered to count for this. no one is putting in the guad to float thru New Braunfuls city limits. that would defeat the purpose.
hence...

Guadalupe doesnt have much water so it’s a slow float and you have to get out a couple times.
Hell be a man and go float the Amite.

we floated the comal a few years ago with a cooler and cans. i am pretty sure it was the outfitter that suggested an extra tube for our cooler

You can take plastic growlers.

IMPORTANT NOTE: We strive to keep our River clean, however the “Can Ban and Ice Chest” Laws DO NOT apply outside of the City Limits where Whitewater is located.”

Couple things. Other may have said but I will confirm. The can ban law is back in the city of New Braunfels.
First, the guad is very low.(as low as I have seen it) If you tube the Horseshoe you will be pulling your group the last half. I did it a few weeks ago. On the guad conditions are very slow. I'm not doing the guad again this summer.
The only part of the guad that has the can ban is if you start in Greune at Rockin R. That section is in New Braunfels city limits.
All of the Comal is in New Braunfels city limits so the can ban is in effect. The water level in the comal is constant.
The San Marco's is about 12 miles north and does not have a can ban. The water level is constant.
I will be at the comal this weekend. I picked up the big one gallon jugs from rtic to take beer in. The one gallon rtic cost $27 and holds ten beers. Buccees should have them for sale.
Otherwise, I've seen plenty of people out there with pony kegs, or camelbaks, yeti cups, etc.
Dont chance it because they are checking folks and writing tickets if your in a can ban section.
This is what I have been using this summer.

This comes up every summer.
The part of the Guadalupe that everyone floats allows cans, not styrofoam or glass.

They sell these at most grocery stores, like 20 beers or so.
Or you could get a pony keg, a 1/8 keg. Has 55ish beers.
If you drink a 6 pack or so of even a large keg before you leave, that's enough air for it to float. They don't need much air in them to float.

Go to Bucees by the river. They have everything “river approved”. Was there Friday

I’ve never had a problem with it. We usually just bring a cooler full of cans and bottles and keep up with our trash.
