It wasn't just the mediocre offensive production, putrid red zone efficiency, or inability to get along with staff members, the guy couldn't recruit. Zero QBs in a year while Ensiminger already has three.

"I like Ed (Orgeron), I really do. He can win there, and maybe he can develop into a guy that stays there a while. But he has to let his coaches coach. What he did with (former offensive coordinator) Matt Canada was ridiculous. You paid him all that money to get on board, and then a couple weeks into the season, you’re bailing on him. I don’t know all the specifics and if Canada wasn’t a good fit with the rest of the staff, but I know what Canada has accomplished in this game. He knows what he’s doing. If you’re an LSU fan, your hope is Ed does, too -- and that his new OC will fit."

Canada was always the scapegoat to the Pro O crowd
Of course it is, actually more like anyone who knows anything about football, plays or coaches for LSU.

The Tigers were not effective inside the 20-yard line in 2017. In 56 attempts inside the red zone, LSU scored points 43 times; of the 130 teams in Division I, only 25 had a lower conversion rate.

In the past decade, no LSU team has been less effective in the red zone than the 2017 Tigers. From 2008 to 2016, LSU averaged an 86 percent conversion rate with a low of 78.72 percent in 2014 and a high of 93.44 percent in 2011.
Of SEC teams' 132 seasons over the past 10 years, only 25 had a worse conversion rate than 2017 LSU.
LSU knows what the problem is and is on a mission to fix it.

Its 33 touchdowns were fourth-most since 2008, pushing them to No. 80 nationally with a 58.93 conversion rate.
How LSU plans to 'open it up' to solve red-zone woes that plagued last season
quote:
Clapp even said he prefers the shifts, but he admitted they can get “confusing” for such a young unit.
quote:
The return of Canada’s scheme doesn’t mean immediate success. His unit scored seven points at Mississippi State, stumbled in the red zone against BYU and has gone three straight games without cracking the 175-yard rushing mark (a first since 2012 for LSU).

“I feel like a lot of people don’t know the offense yet,” Malone said. “That kind of affects us.”
What's the direction of LSU's offense? Matt Canada to players: 'We're going to get back to us'
quote:
Basically, once the work became serious, Canada became a problem for virtually everybody in the LSU Ops Building to work with. Dave Aranda, in particular, very much wanted him gone. It wasn’t about philosophy or jet sweeps or motions so much as it was just a basic working relationship and trust. And while I’m not privy to any specific incidents, there was enough chronicled that LSU threatened to fire Canada for cause in order to reduce the buyout owed to him (with enough of a case that Canada would have likely had to sue to fight it, which he didn’t want to do).

Canada situation was unfortunate, but he was not good for SEC football.

set a record in his first game.
but was busy trying to figure it out on the fly in a 10-0 loss 4 weeks later.

Not defending Coach O for interfering, but 4 different schools in 4 seasons tells me Canada probably has his fair share of issues, too.

A couple little known facts about Matt CanadaPosted on 7/29/17 at 9:54 am
Man, LSU players are going to absolutely love playing for Matt Canada !!!Posted on 8/22/17 at 8:19 am
Matt Canada's offense scored 3 rushing TD's and 3 passing TD's and scored 42 pointsPosted on 8/18/17 at 3:50 pm
Also, just because we're on a tangent about how you're a hypocrite:
LSU will have very good depth on the D-Line for the first time in a whilePosted on 8/12/17 at 8:58 am

This has always cracked me up. The people that are really excited about o being the head coach have gone on and on about how dynamic the offense was under Ensminger in just the first week of him calling the plays.
Then when the Alabama game is brought up, every damn one of them will argue till their blue in the face that there was only so much he could do. It's only been a few weeks they scream.

And it isn't just Ree saying those kind of things. He might be the most vocal, their ring leader, but he isn't alone.

This is an outright lie
Wisconsin he left when the HC left.
3 season at NC State
1 season at Pitt
He wasn't supposed to take a promotion from Pitt to LSU?
Canada wasn't supposed to take a promotion? From N Illinois either?

It also speaks volumes about O's ability to hire and vouch for their fit with LSU's program
Clearly didn't do his research if his style went against what O wanted to do

I can say unequivocally that a NCSU Wolfpack Club member/Alum (my neighbor) was NOT upset when they FIRED Canada (a year after he received a 3-yr contract extension)....they were ready for him move along. Just sayin.

What makes you think I have turned on him?
Maybe after posting all of the facts I should have said "but I hope I am wrong"?
I liked Canada and the offense he was bringing. It obviously is not an offense that is real effective in the SEC. And if Aranda wanted him gone he should be gone.

I thought you said ensminger wouldn’t be hired either. Why would you say that? Especially with how great you think he is
