I wasn’t alive in 88 so would you want to give a description as to why Mickey Guidry comes to mind for you?

Part of the Guidry mystique comes from the way Arnsparger/Archer used him.

Hodson would always start, but Guidry would come in for the third and fourth drives of the first half. This would give Hodson a rest for the second half, give Hodson some time to digest what defenses were trying to do, and give other teams something else to worry about since Guidry was a little different from Hodson and the offense would be slightly different. Those lost drives are a big part of the reason Hodson didn't have a 3000 yard passing game until he was a senior when Guidry was gone.

So, compared to normal back-up quarterbacks, he got a lot of significant playing time, and often played well during those stints.

Hope that helps.

I liked Carey, but wasn't it him who Patrick Willis absolutely destroyed on a run right up the middle?

Junius Dural, pretty sure he never started. He was a classmate at Acadiana and was actually a pretty nice guy once he got LSU. He never panned out at LSU, injuries seemed to pile up almost immediately. He was a stud in HS and led the state in Rushing in his Junior and Senior year. Actually out rushed Johnny Hector in Hector's senior year and Billy Cannon Jr. in their senior year. Of course he played in that veer offense that is heavily run oriented and had a QB starting both years (another classmate, Tim Anderson) who was actually the best pitch out QB I’ve ever seen. There were countless times it seemed the ball was actually fumble, because it seemed to come out at the point of impact from a defensive player, but would end up being a perfect pitch to Junius. Once that defensive guy commits to the QB it opens up the field to a speedy guy who can cut like Junius could.

Trevino Kately is my favorite current, he played football with my son in HS and they are both students at LSU now, Trevan is a walk-in, unlikely to see the field I think, but who knows.

Mine aren’t related to guys who were as good as Edwards was as a non starter, just guys I know.

If it's the play I'm thinking of, I'm pretty sure that was Vincent in 2005.

It was definitely Vincent.

My pick is Ron Brooks as well. He would've been all-SEC on any other team. Our secondary was so fricking ridiculous.

No doubt. He will always be my favorite Tiger recruit. His high school highlight film is disgusting.

Played against him in high school. He dropped like 500 total yards on us and didn't play in the 4th quarter.
