My favorite was Lavar Edwards.

The dude was stuck behind Mingo and Montgomery his whole career but when he rotated in, there was zero drop off.

Dude was a stud.

Who y’all got?

Edit: could also be a current tiger.

If memory serves me right he started one game in '88 against Alabama when Hodson was injured, but Mickey Guidry.

Did Gay actually start?

Maybe at nickel behind Webster and Daniels.

Great Tiger and NFL guy as well

Lavar Edwards and Ron Brooks scored a combined five touchdowns over their careers and I’m not aware that either ever started more than twice.

A spot start doesn’t rule a player out.

I wasn’t alive in 88 so would you want to give a description as to why Mickey Guidry comes to mind for you?

No doubt. He will always be my favorite Tiger recruit. His high school highlight film is disgusting.

Guidry was a very good QB who probably could have started for a lot of teams but he got stuck behind Hodson here.

He was good enough that in almost every game he played, the coaches let Guidry play one series in each half and he usually produced. Such a concept is almost unheard of these days.

Also unheard of these days is a kid loving his school enough to stay and accept a backup role instead of looking to transfer.

Back when college football was college football. Nowadays it’s a corporate feel NFL development league.

Shyrone Carey started that very game that you posted a picture of.

Matter of fact...he took the first snap on most games that season.

Wrong. 1st play was a incomplete pass to Clayton with Addai in the backfield. 2nd play was a handoff to Addai.
