I stumbled across this article/video the other day (see link). Brian Davis was probably 1 of the most recruited hs football players of alltime (relative to his time). Living in Pittsburgh my entire life, people around here have been lucky enough to see some of the nfl's alltime greats while they were in hs. Ask people who the best they ever saw in hs was and you'll usually get Brian Davis as the answer.
Brian Davis went to Pitt where he ended up losing interest in football/school shortly after his arrival. What i discovered in the article was that he had serious interest in LSU. In fact, he wishes he would have went there to get away from his peeps while at school (other nice things about lsu). Many people describe this kis as Bo Jackson and Barry Sanders rolled into one. Had he gone to LSU and not been distracted, he could have been a great one.
Anyway, here's the link to the artcile:
The Legend of Brian Davis
The video is at the top on the right hand side.

I saw Dalton Hillard (Sr) play a few times in Patterson...he was the epitome of a man amongst boys.

Travis Minor was an all star at catholic. He actually won Gatorade National Player of the Year his senior year

we played Midland-Lee in Texas in state-semis and I watched Cedric Benson play,
I went to the West Monroe/Midland-Lee game. Benson didn't do much, along with his team.
WM-36
ML- 8
I did get to see Rohan Davey and Jarrett Lee before they made it to LSU.
I've seen too many high school players to name.

I saw peyton manning let a ground ball go through his legs to give up the state title in ville platte to my alma mater Sacred Heart. His losing ways were in the making back then.

Archie Manning in the Sugar Bowl @ Tulane Stadium. Rocket arm, super fast and big as Peyton. Unbelievable!

I went to Madison Central (Madison, MS) during the days of some bad arse players. Doug Buckles, Mike Espy, Chris Spencer from OM. Parys Harelson from UT. Sylvester "Bobo" Brown... he was called Bobo because he couldn't spell Sylvester, which would explain why he never played D1 ball.
But I must say, the best player I ever saw played against us. Jerious Norwood was flat out unreal in high school, and college for that matter. He ran all over us, for the whole game. I hated him, until he played at MSU. Now he is my favorite former player.

Does anyone remember a RB for Covington in the late 80's and early 90's? Nixon???
I think he was one of the best on the Northshore, but he didn't make it to the Division I level because of grades or something.
Played against him in the playoffs our senior year- we shut him down & we won!!!
He was good, but not great!

I played against Jerry Gray, who ended up being a multiple pro-bowler as a safety in the NFL. I think he has been a D-coordinator for the Bills, and maybe another team since.
He played QB in high school and was unbelievably powerful, fast and elusive. A totally different level than anyone else on the field.

Chris Carter, except I thought he would be an NBA star at the time. His big brother Butch was with Indy.
