Does anybody else believe in our LB core?

This LB group might be the best LSU has had in a long time talent wise, with Devin White being an obvious top 10 talent on the field and Chassion showing he has a bright future ahead of him last year and into fall camp. Jacob Phillips is going to be the next great LB we have, and will form with White and create a top MLB core in the SEC. Add in Divinity, Thornton, Travez Moore, and Andre Anthony and this group has experience, a shite ton of depth, and the young guys are very talented as well in case injury strikes. Along with Damone Clark and Baskerville, we are also bringing in guys like Donte Starks, Mccallum, and Brooks who are athletic and make plays. LB has quickly turned from a negative to a growing strength on this team

Our whole defense is stacked with talent and depth, offense too for that matter.
Hopefully it all comes together this year.

We will platoon more, have more exotic blitz packages with fresh guys and be able to fit specific guys into more run or pass oriented defenses. Combined with twice the depth at DL we should be absolutely salty in 2018.

Someone read a preseason magazine while taking a shite this morning...............

A long time since 2015? That year LSU had Beckwith and D. Jones at LB. The year before (once Welter was FINALLY taken off the field) it was Beckwith and Kwon Alexander. Those guys were pretty good.
White is great and proven. The rest of the guys have done absolutely nothing to warrant such high praise, yet. They very well could be outstanding and we ALL hope that is the case. But I'm not willing to say, in July, that this is the best group LSU has had in a "long time." Let's see them (aside from White) actually do something first.

We can also go 4 across and not just 2.
Tayler looked pretty good for a freshmen last year.

Two words - Dave Aranda.
ETA: I wouldn't say LB was ever a negative, we've put out some studs at the LB position pretty consistently. But as a group, they were never a strength like they are this year.

Debo Jones was unproven going into 2015. Duke Riley was unproven going into 2016. Devin White was unproven going into 2017. Pardon us for being excited for some real LB depth and a defensive coordinator who has a knack for developing LBs.

I wouldn’t buy a preseason magazine if you paid me and read it for me. Just look at the guys and it’s a pretty easy assumption that they have FAR more personnel options.

i thought taylor was a stud last year but seems everyone thinks phillips has overtaken him.. what i saw last year leads me to think he is going to be a monster.. taylor and phillips gunnabe nasty rotating them out staying fresh

Does anybody not believe in the LB Corp?
Not sure why you think you’re the only one. Also, they’re great but not the best LSU has had in a long time.
2016 was the best LB Corp ever at LSU- Beckwith and Riley both had 90+ tackles. Beck would have easily went over 100 if he doesn’t get hurt and Key had 12 sacks.

Still not correct, but better than "corpse" like another poster used yesterday.

This is what I have not heard at all with media days and the general talking head discussions in print, TV and radio just O on hot seat and brutal schedule.
I guess defense no longer wins games?

I'm with you on the Taylor train. Dudes a stud.

If Fulton gets cleared, this might be the best defense in the country.

Phillips and Chaisson will be our 2018 breakout players. These two are primed for a huge season.
