This has to be one of the biggest F.U. moves in history.

This sounds significantly worse than it actually is.

They are seeking to block lawsuits against themselves, not obtain money from the victims.

The suit does not seek compensation from victims, but seeks to prevent future lawsuits against the company from moving forward, the Las Vegas Review Journal reported.

Sounds like a notice of removal, not a new suit.

If you actually read the article, it’s not nearly as bad as it sounds

They aren’t suing for damages, they are suing to have the victims drop their lawsuit

I think precedent was set here by the theater shooting in Colorado, where the theater was determined to not be liable.

It sounds horrible that MGM has to sue for this, but that's the world we live in. Everybody wants to get paid.

Why should the hotel be liable?

Reprehensible, but smart legally, prevents State Court involvement, and moves it to Federal Court, by-passing grandstanding State District Court Judges, which are elected and politically motivated.

Debra clearly has the best interest of the victims at heart and has pre-determined what is best for all. Debra must be a smart lady to be able to make everybody else's decisions for them.

No not really, the hotel is not responsible for crazy person's actions. Yes, does it suck that it happened at their place, but its still not their fault. Its not like they had suspicions or he went flashing guns around the hotel all week, then the shooting happened. If that happened then yes, they would have some legal liability for the shooting.

They are warning people they are wasting their money, there are laws that protect big companies from being sued for stupid peoples actions, for good measure. Even the Aurora victims lost their lawsuit against the chain. Like every other shooting that the company wasn't at fault in anyway.

Im sure there are more than enough cameras in the casino.

If you are talking about the rooms, well thats just weird that you want a place to put cameras in the rooms.

Pretty sure he is talking about how no footage of the shooter exists.

They've filed suit twice before on this board. When are they going to stop?

Someone will sue MGM claiming that someone should have noticed the arsenal being taken upstairs.

It's a nutty theory of course since bellhops don't generally ask "Hey, what are in these suitcases?" but several people on the OT thought the shooter had help so why not sue?
