I think she's always felt a connection with John. Everyone in the town thinks he killed Natalie just because he's too emotional over her death, but Camille is the only one that understands what he's going through.

OR, as said in the scene, she is just a drunk and a slut.

Seems to me it is pretty likely that Adora/Alan/Amma/ and possibly the police chief are all involved in killing the girls and/or the cover up.

Adora is the "lady in white" everyone references and gets off on caring for "lost/troubled" girls. Alan is obviously the one that pulled out the girls teeth. Amma is most likely being drugged. Adora painted the one girls toenails that seems pretty in line with her character.

I wonder if Camille is also being drugged

I don't think so. She rejected the blue bottle poison stuff.

He bit his own hand at the end of the prior episode.

but there has been very little to no character development and story progression in regards to the murder.

really? Did you watch this latest episode. We have also consistently learned more and more about Adora, all of her daughters, and Wind Gap as a whole. The last 2 episodes have given numerous clues and provided foreshadowing that has been laid out in this thread. As Belle said, the show is subtle which is what makes it great IMO.

Amma: Who do I remind you of?
John: A bad little girl who thinks she’s a lot cuter than she is.
Amma: Then you should stop watching me. You know how Ashely gets when she’s jealous.
John: I like to keep on you, Amma. Just know I’ve always got my eye on you.
Amma: You sure do, now.
John: It’ll be your day. Soon.

damn, reading it makes the conversation sound much more sinister.

pretty clear we have an Adora/Alan killing situation at this point. Adora cares for the girls and when they fight back Alan kills them. Not sure what role Amma plays in it or the police chief. Amma is being drugged, it's also possible Camille is being drugged. My question is how does Ashley play a role in this. Is she one of Adora’s test subjects that went right?

Apparently, that scene is not in the book.

I didn't necessarily think so. She's drawn to him because of him experiencing the death of a sibling. I also imagine, given the things that have happened to her, that she's not emotionally mature. Just look at her engagement in Amma's high school party and how she just blends in with it.

So my pre-finale thoughts after watching the episode:

- I don't think John is involved in the murders. I think he strongly suspects Amma is involved (and she may very well be given how fricked up Adora is) given the pool exchange. But I don't think he really knows after the comment he made to Camille about her Mom being the only one who gave a shite about Anne and Natalie.

- The biting is definitely a thing in all of this. And makes sense for why her teeth was removed.

- Granted, she should've never fricked John, but I thought KC was a bit harsh with his "a drunk and a slut" making excuses for bad behavior comment. Seeing everything we've seen with Adora to this point, it's surprising that Camille hasn't just flat out offed herself all together. I can't imagine how fricked up that childhood was.

- Speaking of Adora, definitely the killer. She's been poisoning the whole bunch of them. Probably Camille too. But I doubt she's done it alone. It wouldn't surprise me if Alan is involved.

- I don't think the Chief is in on it. I tend to think after his reflection that Amma is "home sick" may be putting it all together after years of denial.

- I also still can't place where Ashley fits in all of this. Talk about a little sociopath.

I can see the connection she probably feels to him given both of their situations. However, she even told him "no one sees" her cuts, yet she's going to let a 18 or 19 yr old kid not only see her naked body, but also let him frick her?

Maybe she is just a drunken slut, but I feel like her character has been developed to be much more guarded and secretive than to allow that to go on...

I imagine it's easier for her to let her guard down to some kid who's getting ready to head to the clink and has no potential of an actual relationship with her. And alcohol with some possible Adora special added in for all we know.

It also helps to throwback some Woodford Reserve with some former high school mates who basically berated you for not being married and or having children.

Ashley has some connection to Adora that I cant piece together just yet. They are both extremely controlling and need to be in the spotlight at a given time. Look at how Ashley handled the situation with Sheriff Vickery over the search warrant. She immediately bit on his line “you’ll probably make the local news”. I find it interesting that she so easily let it be know that John Keene wouldn’t sleep with her.

Also, Alan is just as guilty as Jackie in this situation. The only difference is he doesn’t use substance abuse to mask his pain (Music instead). Alan and Jackie both know that they don’t have enough power to take down Adora in Wind Gap. So they try their best to stay on her good side. Which is obviously a flip of coin everyday

I also think that Sheriff vickery is Camille’s real dad.

Fun fact I found out this evening. Only the first
episode of this series was actually filmed in Missouri. The rest was filmed in Barnesville Georgia and California (the Preckers mansion).
