Interesting article about the culture at the Oregon project after Salazar’s suspension.
Apparently fat shaming world class athletes is a thing.

Well I got 2nd overall out of 28 at my first trail race. It probably came up just shy of 3 miles, I got it in 22 minutes and some change. I did not wear a watch, I just ran.
The course was marked horribly, there were a group of 4 of us up front that made a few good guesses on turns, the other 24 (my wife included) took a few wrong turns and ended up hitting about 5 miles unintentionally.
Aside from that it was awesome. I will definitely be running more trails, beat the hell out of road running in the fun department.

From the article
“she needed to lose her baby weight if she wanted to be fast again.”
Fat shaming or statement of fact?

She ran a 2:24 marathon. I doubt baby fat was holding her back. I’m not saying the comments in that article are that horrible or even that anything was meant with malicious intent. Just a news article about running on the front page of ESPN.
I admit my inherent dislike and distrust for Nike as a company.

First run with the 235 and...
The only thing it got right was my pace, sometimes. Should get better as I get a few more runs in, at least I hope/ it better.
Good riddance NOP, Salazar is a well known dirtbag. This isn’t a witch hunt, it’s a mandate to change the sport in which Salazar is HNIC when it comes to win at any cost. He’s a well known cheater worldwide.
Here’s the thing, he doesn’t need to cheat to win because he’s probably the best coach/tactician running has ever seen. He cheats and abuses runners because he knows or at least knew that no one was going to challenge him. It’s an ego thing with him. It’s pathological. I respect his coaching and accomplishments, but he is human garbage.
Anywho, steady-state long run and probably my last real tough workout today. 16 and some change, quietly eking out a 122 half. Was windy boy, but what else is new? Taper starts tomorrow; miles not intensity.

Fun workout today with 13 @ 9:07 with suboptimal rest and nutrition after the game last night.
I was surprised by this --> after running & talking with pacers the entire time they asked me to do some runs with them and pace a 2:00:00 or 2:15:00 half next year. They said they were sure I could do it so we will see , might be fun to consider.

Damn good run. My 13 on Saturday started easy and turned into a “can I get under 2:00”? Started ramping too late though and came up short. Reminded me how difficult it can be to run a sub 2 half.

Kballa6,
Thanks
Right there with you, I didnt want to seem like a braggart..it was fun, but not easy. I'd classify as smooth but uncomfortable.
Like BRM predicted, felt like I was hanging on for life from 8 - 12!

Got 30 minutes in this morning. I am going to run for time instead of obsessing over pace-watching for a little while.
I need to relax and just go with feel until I build a true base up. I think I came out of the gate way too fast a while back and that is what caused my knee injury.
I did get together a full 6 run calendar from November to February of trail runs though. I loved that trail race this weekend.

Reporting back from the weekend. GF and I did the Veterans 10k in New Orleans. Was a bit of a cluster leading up to it with multiple start time changes and a last minute race relocation, but overall I think they did a decent job for a first inaugural race. It’s a good cause and a good time of year for a race, so hopefully they can keep growing it.
Finished at 53:29 which was good enough for 49th/296 overall and 2nd/17 for my age group. Was my second ever 10k race, pretty pleased with my results. Didn’t rest up like I wanted to and honestly didn’t really push it...more like a moderate effort. Sprinting the last .25 doesn’t do enough, but at least I felt like I had a lot of fuel in the tank. Need to work on figuring out my pacing. My GF finished 1st in her age group, so that was pretty cool too.

Who got out in the frigid temps this morning?
What is yalls temperature cutoff?
Im supposed to run tomorrow morning, but the 22 degree and windy forecast is scaring me off.

Ran 5 shirtless in 73 degree weather last night. That's much more my speed than sub-freezing temps.

It has to be sub 20 for me to really question it. Anything in the 20's or 30's I can dress for and still enjoy my run.

i'll do frigid and have run in under 10 degrees before. i did 34 degrees in shorts this weekend and it was no biggie.
however, i do not do frigid AND windy or rainy. it was 24 and 15 mph wind, so i was out this morning. about to do a lunch run now that it's 31 and calmed down.

Garmin 235 is on sale at Best Buy for a buck fifty so I def upgraded from the 220 for a hundred off.
I should have held out a little longer instead of replacing my vivoactive with a FR 35, but it doesn't look like the 235 does much more than my vivoactive did.

I laid down a tough workout to start my week on an 8-degree (1 degree wind chill) morning. I accidentally locked myself out and had to wake my wife up at 6:15 to come open the door. She was NOT happy.
2 Mi WU; 5 X 1K @ current 5K pace with 2' Jogging Recoveries; 2 Mi CD
The rest of my week is essentially the same as last week. My VO2 Max is up to 53, so I know I'm close to race ready with just a few weeks left.

What's your race/goal? You've been killing the training.
