I ended up moving my schedule around a little. I ended up skipping my run yesterday morning. There were sustained winds of over 20 MPH with gusts of 30. Screw that at 5:00 AM. I intended to run in the evening instead after the winds calmed down but was drowsy as hell by the time I go home. The weather change always has this effect on me for a week or so.

That was the first time in several weeks that I took a day completely off in the middle of the week. It actually did me some good, because my legs felt great this morning through my entire 10-miler. I might make up my 6 miles by doing a two a day tomorrow, but I'll probably be fine just skipping it this week.

Missing HB and TR in a big way in the group. I shouldn’t be repping 10 percent of the club miles with 70 plus people in it.

I wish there was an easy way to import all of my MapMyRun workouts over to Stratva. I would. But I’ve got too much into it. Maybe in the new year I’ll do it.

ETA: ok got on the group, added my November runs, going out for a run shortly and will upload it after. will knock you down from 10% of the runs, Burt

My schedule has been off the last month in a bad way. Even if I wanted to there’s no way I could have gotten 30 miles in any week.

Son started Basketball practice at 6:30 in the morning and my wife is working for the first time in 12 years so I can’t just stroll back to the house for work at 8 AM like I used to. Going to try and get back up to 30 a week in the near future.

BRM,

I should be good for 40+ until my late December taper

Neighborhood 5K today and shaved about a minute off my time. Just trying to set & reset my training paces with January getting close.

I’ve slowly started picking my miles up over the last few weeks. Hit my first 40 mile week this week.

How do you typically record your runs?

I have been using map my run for several years as well and did not want to completely abandon it as I had already started a year long challenge. I found a third party app that automatically loads my data from my workouts to Strava and map my run.

May grab one of those Garmin watches. Learning that the touchscreen on my Vivoactive is not so great...my long sleeve shirt somehow unlocked it and paused my race this morning .10/.20 before the finish line. Ugh...

Most have watches that send to Garmin and then Strava.

There are a few Coros, Polar, or Apple watches I’m sure but Garmin seems to be the prevalent brand.

i've always used MMR. Like you, I have thousands of miles on it and don't want to abandon fully, but I also want to get the social aspect of Strava on here. So today I uploaded my November runs to Strava and still recorded on MMR and then uploaded today's run to Strava. I was planning on doing that the rest of the year and then deciding if I want to fully switch over to Strava in the new year.

What's the 3rd party app you use?

Are you recording to MMR from your phone or a watch? If so which one?

I record my runs on my Apple Watch using the built in activity app. This records the data and I use the Health Fit app to automatically sync it to Strava & MMR. All of the data is transferred: GPS, heart rate, elevation change, etc.

I’m using my phone. I don’t have a watch, though I may think about getting one soon.

The health fit app was designed to syncs apple health data to other sources. I’m not sure how it would work or if it would work recording from your phone.

gsadle,

Thanks & my neighbor runs with his Apple watch for music plus a Garmin..he gets mildly aggravated because the time/distance and route maps are very different most of the time. He seems to have more confidence in the Garmin.

I didn't run as much as I wanted in Chicago but with today, I'm going into tomorrow's half with some good fatigue. I'm looking forward to the physical & mental gut check as a learning experience.

5k speed is coming along fast. That was a really good PR. With a sub 24, you aren’t messing around anymore. Good luck tomorrow it’ll be a challenge to find your pace and hang on for life but you’ll be pumped after I bet.
