Wake up @ 4am, put shoes on and be out the door by 4:10. That will slow anyone down. My first mile is always in the 10:40-11:00 range. By the end of the run, I'm at my marathon pace of 10:00 or below.

Yeah it’s well known Kenyans run tempos and easy mostly by feel.

Got in my first speed work since my injury. Did 4X400 with 400 breaks between. 1 Mile warm up and cool down. Splits for the sprints were all sub 7 with final one right at 6. Very pleased. Have a Mile sprint race coming up in just over a month and am hoping to go sub 6.

Heavenly temps this morning. Made that 415 wake up call a little more tolerable.

Yeah I had 7 easy on the schedule today. Plan was to hit the LSU Lakes, and after sitting in gridlocked Baton Rouge traffic I only had a limited amount of time. Had to make it a tempo. Did 1 WU, 5.2 tempo, .8 CD. Ended up with 45:01 for the 10K (counting warm up mile). Felt great, HR never got over 160.

Yeah, it was aight. Got some quarters 5k pace with minute jog this morning. Might need to ditch the Brook Revels as they’re beating the hell out of my legs.

Anybody got a way to watch USA’s other than paying for NBC Gold?

Question for y’all: how many of you bring your cell phone when you run?
I’m looking to get a new activity tracker and really like the Garmin Vivosport bc it has built in GPS. The FitBit trackers require phone GPS. I like the idea of not bringing my phone on runs, but paranoia and the fact I was raised in the age of cell phones makes me think I should always bring it. Although, my usual route is along the street car tracks on St Charles, so there would always be someone near by. Thoughts?

I run as naked as I can. No phone, music, etc.

I run with my phone and wear a running fanny pack and Aftershokz. Running is the only time I get to listen to podcasts.
I'm interested in purchasing a non-Apple watch/tracker that has GPS and allows me to download podcasts so I can free myself from my phone.

This but I also run with a "runID" on my shoe. Might be the piece of mind your looking for.

Thanks for the replies. Anyone have experience with the Vivosport? I’m pretty set on it unless there is something better that I can get for $100 or less.
Also, care to expound on the runID?

Road ID
Here ya go jordan. I might have a 10 off code on an old race bib somewhere.
Watching the USAs and Blake Leeper is my hero. Great interview after the prelim. I'm not crying, you're crying.

Gonna order one of these. To put my wife at ease if nothing else.

Watching the woman's Steeple from yesterday, goodness I could watch Colleen Quigley and Emma Coburn run all day. Quigley's stride is mesmerizing.

Second run today was a good controlled pretty chill tempo. Slowing down and focusing on my form and consistent active recovery pace on the easy runs is already helping my fatigue issues.

I always bring my phone because I usually listen to the Bible or podcasts on runs.
I went about a year where I did not but since I do a lot of trails and have encountered rattlesnakes and coral snakes, I decided having the ability to call somebody outweighed the freedom. Also, I travel for work and try to do runs in different towns. A) it can be easy to get lost and that’s helpful and B) After I went on a 14 mile run once and left the phone my wife lost her ish because I didn’t tell her where I was and didn’t answer her for over 2 hours. Promised her I would always take it after that.
Just had a good week of running out in East Texas. We were at family Jesus camp in Tyler and I did good at waking up early and beating the heat. First 20+ mile week in almost 2 months so it felt good to get things back on track.
