Yeah it was a great ending for a real dumbly ran race. You’d have thought we were watching high school track the first 7 minutes.

Yeah it was odd to say the least.

Lomong is 34 which is crazy. Chelimo is one of my favorites right now too. Maybe all time really.

I think I’m on the Lomong train through 2020.

Had to get my 12 mile long run in late this evening, but it was actually pretty mild. Capped off a 38 mile week, per the plan. 60+ hour work week to boot. 6 weeks down and haven’t missed a run yet. Feeling good.

Was feeling good about weekly miles and Saturday's 5K but I have to have a hand procedure (early onset dupuytren's contracture) this week so no activity...I might be able to sneak some miles in but I have to see how Wednesday's manipulation goes.

Felt pretty good about my 11 minute pace on 5 miles i did Saturday. My plan has a lot of interval stuff coming up.

Any tips on not being so slow? The fastest 5k I’ve run this year was right at 30 minutes but I feel like I am in better shape now than that race

just wanted to jump in and say it's hot as balls out there. lunch run at 97 with a "feels like 105."

Dire, i'm not the master by any means but you probably need to start doing some speed work. 400s, 800s, and 1600s. if you're a 10 minute miler, you need to start working on getting a few miles under 9, even if it's just one. then build that up.

LINK

this article says 400s. as a quarter guy in HS, it's the perfect mid distance for endurance. however it's by far the most awful worst race and i will fight any of you 800ers that say otherwise.

I ran 400 and 800 in HS. I agree. I hated the 400 more.

Is there is place in Houston that sells Maurten Gel 100's or do I need to order online?

According to their website, On The Run sells them. The only store I know of in the Houston area is in Clear Lake near NASA. Give them a call.

Run keeper has me doing intervals during the week and a long run on the weekend.

Today is 400 at 8:30 and 400 at 12 mile pace for 3 miles

That speed work should help out a lot. But it’s miserable lol.

Hell of a run today. Tried to get a workout in and damn... Headwind going out, okay no big deal it happens all the time. But then... Garmin reset after 2nd interval. Okay, it's an old watch; it happens. Bug flies into left eye. First dog chase. Headwind coming back in the opposite direction. Sidewalk blocked three times by work pushing me onto a busy road. I bonk. Legs cramp. Second dog chase. Bug flies in the right eye. Get shorted a half mile on the run.

I need workouts like this every once in a while and I was due but damn.

You rang?

So, I'm back for run focus time. I will do the Xterra next weekend at Muleshoe though.

ran yesterday 6 miles with 3 x 3 minute pick ups.
It sucks running when the humidity drains you as soon as yuo walk outside.

Speaking of Maurten gels Yardbird, has anybody compared them to the Science in Sports brand? I can't tell the difference but the $2 difference in price is nice.

The Maurten drink mix is awesome and has been my go to for long distance. Easy century bike rides with just one of those bottles as my main fuel source.

Think my schedule may be a little more back to manageable starting Monday. Gonna try to get back in the groove. Finally got that promotion though

I’ve used both Maurten and SIS gels. They’re both good, but I prefer the Maurten. For me, they seem a little cleaner and easier to process. Due to expense, I was using SIS for training runs and Maurten for races.

Congrats!

Been weird just being jealous of Burt and not spreading it out to the both of y’all.

Had a really fun trail run today. Just one of my normal crew showed up and neither of us had kids at home to get back to so we went exploring. Ran through a creek bed, canyon and up to a waterfall and cave.

Awesome! That looks like a blast 3N! Trail races bum me out, but I love this stuff. I'm really jealous of your group. I can't get anyone to do that stuff, too many lone wolves around here... Or maybe I'm just an a-hole and nobody likes me. Either way
