good stuff
I have my last 20+er tomorrow. planning on 22 but may cut it down to 20 again just to take it a bit easier on the hamstring. felt much better today on my run but im scared until i get a workout without it flaring up.

Just saw the results for CCC. Anyone here run it?

I know me, Walt, and VistaJay. Walt crushed as usual. I was ambitiously shooting for sub 43 and came up a little short. Had to dip early so didn’t get to try to find anyone.

Good job to everyone at CCC!
Jordan just do what I do, use that slightly short to fuel your anger and beat Walt next time
1st Tempo session after a long run ever... and a 22 mile long run at that:
Kinda going back to something Pedro said a week ago or so, I'm really proud of the last 2 miles because I didn't let mile 3 get into my head. Old me probably would have given up and just went 7:50 for the rest and called it a day.

Well, actually, just saw Walt’s Strava and it was not in fact crushed . I must’ve seen the post before he edited.
I’ll let him post his story/recap.

quote:dude it’s so rewarding. I don’t know if it comes with maturity in running or what but seeing that first split back on track knowing you avoided falling apart feels so good.

Also are we falling each other on strava here? If so I’m willing to dox myself (again)

So now I'm curious about Walt's story. Sounds like CCC was an interesting event this year

10 miles at a 12 min pace and 140 HR. Waded Shades Creek afterwards and smoked some bream and bass on an ultra lite. My new long run destination.

I did not end up running CCC. Went to sign up earlier in the week and my predicted time corral was the only one sold out. Looks like it was more popular this year, which is good for the race and NOLA running in general. I did get a ten miler in last weekend and a fairly fast 7 miler Friday. Aiming for some May 5k races.

Yeah, I ended up getting crushed
Was on pace for a PR, but my body gave out. Plan was 5:50/mi, but my GPS was glitchy downtown, so first 2 miles ended up being 5:32 & 5:42. Was able to grit out 5:5x miles the rest of the way, but I collapsed 100 feet from the finish line. Too much lactic acid buildup and my legs felt like bricks. Tried to get up again but couldn’t take more than 2 steps without falling back down. Paramedics came over, took my vitals, and gave me IV fluids. Spent 50 minutes on the ground before getting up and walking the final 100 feet.
My mantra going into this race was one I’ve heard Paul Chelimo say. “Go hard or suffer for the rest of your life!” ….apparently I took that too literally haha
ETA: forgot to mention, I also had a gel w/200 mg caffeine right before the race. Which undoubtedly contributed to my insane HR throughout the race.

Greek Fest 5k coming up. Was a great deal last year.

Good news, they have a camera filming the finish all day so your entire medical episode is there for review
Kidding aside, glad you’re okay and still a performance to be proud of. Hope they still give you a poster. My watch was jacked up too and I went the first two miles too quick. Mile 4 and 5 were brutal.

Oh yeah, the pictures of it are great
Thanks dude, sounds like we had the same issue with pacing. Congrats on your race though, you did a great job!

Daaaang man that sucks. Sounds like you were on track for a good one. You have any other races on deck?

I did better than I expected at the ccc.

Unfortunately no, this was my last race of the season. Nothing else until the fall. But it’s ok, I had a great season with multiple PRs across various distances. Time to hit reset, get back to some fundamentals, and hopefully roll into fall/winter ready to make some new PRs

Where’d you find the video? I haven’t seen it yet.
