Good.

Tulane has been using LSU fans as an ATM on ticket prices for far too long.

Not really. Even if you want to use this two year sample size where Tulane has been sub .500
Tulane’s RPI wasn’t far off from Southeastern this year

Except for that 120 years of rivalry between the two schools.

I was in grade school when I attended the super regional that resulted in Tulane ousting LSU. I sat and listened to their fans crow and snicker. I knew I would love hating them for decades to come.

The schools need to play each other.

Basketball and baseball maybe..but football no
The rivalry overall has seen better years... I think it's much more important to Tulane than it is to the current tiger fan base and players
Biggest mistake Tulane made was leaving the SEC in the 60's to go independent...wonder what idiot made that decision

I agree,

But the Tulane administration has done everything in their power to exclude LSU fans from watching the game in NO.

Tickets are tough to get, over priced and now TV coverage is extremely limited.

F Tulane if that's what they are all about.

Play Tulane but put them in the regular rotation with the other in state schools and play a game at their park once every 3-4 years. If they don’t like it they can kick rocks.

Then I looked at the way LSU priced the Bama or Florida football games or the Kentucky basketball game & what the hell, it looks like the Greenies just copied what we were doing.

While I’m not upset about Tulane jacking up the prices. This is America and supply and demand still exists this isn’t an apple and oranges comparison. LSU does jack up the prices but the percentage of LSU fans buying those tickets vs the opponent is about the same as a lower tier game. In this case the percentage of Tulane fans buying vs LSU buying is significantly different than a normal opponent. Also think the way they handled the tv for the game last year was way worse than jacking up ticket prices.

Obviously I wish Tulane was in better shape but Southeastern is a pretty good program lately.
If we go back 3 seasons Tulane probably had a better RPI than all of those schools

False, the State of Louisiana owns the parking lot and the “Shrine on Airline” Structure. Be mad at the State if you want.

from tulane board. even they know they're dumb
quote:

The answer is obvious and the punk bitches didn't like being told tough and as punishment the punk bitches are "punishing us" by not playing us. frick'em.

quote:

Don't blame them.

And not playing Tulane doesn't mean anything to LSU. It sucks for the fans on both sides, you are right. But that's about it. They'll draw 3,000 or 4,000 to midweek games no matter what. They'll play on television 30 times a season no matter what.

Tulane now loses their biggest out-of-conference home game of the year, and a home attendance that doubles any other game we would play all season. And the opportunity for one of our few televised games of the season.

Now when we play them at Zephyr Field in 2020, it'll be 90% LSU fans and televised by Cox in a TV deal that will probably heavily favor LSU anyways.

Hope it was worth it.

Have you been smoking bananas. Tulane has about the fourth best program in the state. They don't know what a good program is. When they play LSU they pump it up even though to LSU it is another mid week game to let the young inexperienced guys. Its about like playing Louisiana College.

Tulane baseball has long been the state's best program and that's not changing anytime soon.

if you don’t count LSU, USL, SLU, and everyone else not name Nichols or McNeese, i guess you might be right.

The only way LSU should play an entire weekend in New Orleans is if it's an invitational with 3 cold weather teams looking to come south for games, at Zephyr.
those teams are never good though

Mainieri talked about this at his PC yesterday. Here's the full story.

quote:

[quote]"I kept hearing from other (in-state) schools 'how come you treat Tulane differently than us?'," Mainieri said. "Increasingly, I found it more difficult to answer the question rationally."

Initially he offered Tulane the 4 for 1 deal like everyone else. Tulane rightfully told him to frick off with that offer, so he offered Tulane the opportunity to be the permanent opponent in the Wally Pontiff Classic.

Rumor on a Tulane message board is that LSU is canceling the baseball series with Tulane. Anyone know if there’s any truth to this?

Absolutely true...Tulane pulled that PAY-PER-VIEW stunt last year, thank God, PM had the balls to tell them to go get fricked.
