FRENCH SETTLEMENT - The chief of police of a small village in Livingston Parish was booked into jail on multiple charges, including malfeasance in office.

French Settlement Mayor Toni Guitreau confirmed Police Chief Harry Brignac was arrested Wednesday, but said she couldn't go into the details of Brignac's alleged crimes at this time.

Records show that Brignac was booked into the Livingston Parish Jail on charges of malfeasance in office, theft and injuring public records.

The mayor said more details would be released soon.

That mayor has always had it in for Harry.

From substitute teacher to mayor. Her rise to power has been extraordinary.

Word on the street is that Brignac borrowed the French Inhaler without permission.

He stamped and mailed her.

Louisiana worst state for police

I mean, the pay is already shite. Not justifying it but when your state ranks among the lowest in the country for quality of life for police officers, you don’t really attract the most quality individuals.

I lived in FS for about 10 years and this is one fricked up town. We wasn't from from there and if you're not from there they don't want anything to do with you. My son was bullied and had got into a couple fights . We moved his freshman year , went to another high school and did great. As far as Dirty Harry ,it's been known for years if you have enough cash on you when he pulls you over then you can get out of any DWI, speeding etc
