Never in a million years did I think he’d turn into a superstar. Solid player, yes...but a superstar?

I think he may be on his way to being one. If he continues and stays consistent, I think he may be a top 10 player in the game.

Yeah, I thought the same. Just thought he’d be an average everyday major leaguer

He's really seeing pitches well during this magical run, specifically fastballs. They even tried to come inside on him last night with one...NAH, Homerun number two!

Serious question, how many players in the same situation as Bregs on the game winner last night, just give up and stand there to let the catcher tag them? He was dead to rights out and still didn't give up on the play.

Jim Bowden says he spoke to Luhnow about 10 days ago.. "he told me without question that he wasn't going to let AJ down again, he was going to get him a closer."

Bowden suggests getting Raisel Iglesias

Get Britton, too. We have the ammo for a long-term asset and a rental. There's no reason we should not go strong for what we need.

Put Giles in the Reds deal if they want him. Put Harris in the Orioles deal if they want him. It makes room on the roster.

If you're a believer in things like FIP, Iglesias is at 3.94 so there could be some bad regression there. But it doesn't always tell the full story...Giles FIP number was below 2 recently.

I'm in the get Britton camp. I'm not sold on Iglesias.

I don't agree with the idea of grabbing him as the answer at closer this year because of his lack of pennant race/playoff experience. But if they think Iggy has the special talent (and mindset because damnit they better have learned their lessons from Giles & Gomez) to pitch high-leverage, go get him.

That said, a healthy Britton is the perfect fit.

I know I’m beating a dead horse but man I was willing to give Giles the benefit of the doubt but he has proven to be a mental midget. Hitting himself in the face, f bombing the manager and then figuratively the team every time he blows a lead in a non save situation.

Guy needs some professional help

Same. He sucked in the post season but we won the World Series so..whatever. Weird things happened in the post season

Craig Kimbrel allowed the run that ended up being the winning run in the ALDS

We picked up a walk off in the ALCS against Chapman

Marwin hits the home run to tie the game off Jansen

Morrow blew a game

Not a good post season for the best closers in the game. But Giles hasn't bounced back at all. Still struggling, doesn't look like he has a place in a post season bullpen.

Any news on why Verlander was also absent for post game media time?

Would love to get both Britton and Iglesias and call it a day. I would make anything besides Whitley and Tucker available

I’m sure he had been showered and ready to go for a while. I don’t think there’s much to it

Agree 100% Prom. Even with the Crawford porch benefitting his pull, never would have pegged him as close to a 30+ HR type of player, nor did I think his defense would be as good as it is (given his inherent lack of range). He is incredible.

Encouraging trend but will believe it when I see it

Giles needs to go. I’ll give him credit for the success he had last year closing games, despite the fact 90 percent of them were nail biters. But it’s obvious he’s trending the wrong way. He’s too unpredictable. And his failure to locate his straight fastball or his slider somewhere other than the heart of the plate is an issue. I’ve also thought that Giles and rondon were bad back to back options because they present too similar pitching repertoires.

He needs to be included in a trade and we need to hope someone takes him with the idea he can be fixed. I would be good with Iglesias if he indeed has better command than Giles although he sounds a lot like rondon. I’d be good with hand and Britton too particularly because I think they present something different than rondon does. But both of those guys play for notoriously bad trading partners.
