Last Jedi Problem Not Addressed

The only thing that bothers me after several rewatches of TLJ on a variety of platforms, who in the blue hell were the crimson guards in the throne room. These guys really sucked. Like nameless faceless group of dudes just thrown in to get their asses kicked in a bruce lee film. The lightsaber slinkees and other accessories were terrible as well. Alot of thought must have went in on those guys and it really didnt work. Might as well just had some stormtroopers get their asses kicked. Im cool with the rest of it now. Those guards were the worst though.

The reason to all your questions is simple.
Because the writer/director wanted it that way.
For instance, he didn’t want Rey to die so that’s exactly what happened.

The 6ft LEGO men were horrible. While
One or two were fighting, others were just spinning around waiting for their turn. Stupid choreography.

Those dudes had one job and one scene to do it and they were just terribly ineffective. I mean dude gets cut in half, its a wrap. Lets clock out fellas. We lost and to top it all off we gotta all get killed after failing horribly.

i mean why were they even in there and so far away from the guy with num chucks and knives such. nobody got a gun? when the lightsaber moved next to Snoke those guys should have been on it immediately. Just dumb.

i mean where were the dudes in return of the jedi when luke is dragging a defeated Vader around the Death Star like a sack of garbage trying to get out of there. Nobody even raised an eyebrow when that was happening. These guards are worse than stormtroopers. its amazing the bad guys ever won anything in the first place.

How's this one (notice the first guard Rey knocked back toward the front of the screen):
It looks like someone was a bit late to drop into a crouch and he adjusted to miss hitting her in the head.
Then again, maybe he got confused during the spin and thought he was fighting Chewbacca for a second and went a bit high.
