You were down voted but some thing can be said for a qb who can make a quick decision and a scheme that allows him to make a quick throw effectively. This does take the wind out of a defense and can put the OL in an offensive state even if they aren't the best OL.
Now if you have the studs up front to make way no matter your scheme then that's a bonus. I think LSU will be a mix of both this year, which can make the offense even more effective. I would always approach the start of a game with quick throws mixed with runs designed to fool the defense. This will take the competitive edge or aggressiveness from the defense and have them guessing from the start.
Make them look at each other and start pointing while you come at them. I'm hoping that Joe B is the type of QB who can make a play happen even when a play really isn't there. There is always a pass to be made IF the QB can find it and has the ability to make that throw accurately. There's nothing more frustrating then when a defense does everything pefectly but the offense gains 10 yards anyway. If we can do that while also running the ball like we have in the past, this team will be very dangerous. Couple that with a new opportunistic defense ran by Aranda and you've got a championship type of season. You can't forget that our FG kicking should be much more consistent in 2018 as well.
I'm pumped to see how this season plays out. I just hope that if Burrow is the starter, he can be just as effective in week one, as he is in week 10 at finishing the opponent. Now if he gets better overall throughout the season, then great but I hope he knows how to do just enough to win at the start of it. GT

His pre-snap reads and quick decision making is what makes him stand out.
Where have you seen this? In a spring game where blitzes aren’t allowed? Up 50 in the 4th quarter vs Bowling Green? On high school highlights from 4 years ago?

Everyone that's been around the kid claims he possesses the "It factor." I have not heard any voice proclaiming concern over his ability.
Therefore, we go with the trend. Smarts and field leadership are vital.

He's exactly what we need right now. He's an accurate passer that can hit a lot of of the short to intermediate stuff that we have neglected for the longest. For the past couple of years it's been sideline passes or chunking it deep, that is an elementary passing scheme.
Going off of Ensminger, if he is to be believed, we'll be running a lot of RPOs and if he and CEH are a real threat to run, we'll have a field day vs teams. Actual misdirection that doesn't rely on 1000 presnap shifts and motions, is also something we've been sorely lacking.
Anyway, I think he'll run a bit. Etling ran way more than I thought he would as a mobile pocket passer, but I think Burrow will be a true dual threat. It's what I've always wanted in an LSU QB.

Let's say Joe B wins the QB job
Rohan Davey was on AFR the other day and said, to some effect, that there was no way Burrow was going to come to LSU for his last two years of eligibility without some sort of guarantee (whether spoken or not) that he would be the starter. I haven't watched much of his film but he is a big dude, has a strong arm, accurate, and is more mobile than some people would think. While I do think we will have some packages for Narcisse, I don't think we will be limited by Burrow as far as RPOs and stuff.
Side note: I would love for us to have some goal line packages that feature Narcisse.

Nothing more entertaining than when someone starting a post that reads "I have a good friend that told me this"
Joe Burrow is going to the Bourbon Bowl!!!!
Your friend must be on Crack? Because there is so much tape on Burrows playing in "REAL TIME" against SEC type of Defenses? or was this just him asking the Magic 8ball for answers?
10 times better than ANY QB we've had in the last 15yrs LOL
C'mon dude, let's be real and join the real world for a moment
We neeed to LOWER OUR EXPECTATIONS
NEW OC
NEW QB
NEW RB
NEW WR
AND BRUTAL SCHEDULE
This will be like a 7 win season ONLY because ARANDA is a GENIUS ON DEFENSE!!!!!

The post said “he’s great at pre-snap reads and short intermediate throws.” I’m simply asking, other than high school evaluations from 4 years ago or spring game highlights, what evidence led to that conclusion. How can anyone voice concern over his ability when he’s never started a game or played a meaningful college snap?

How will his talents make an immediate impact on the offense/team?
He will throw the ball or hand the ball off to lsu’s skill position players.

Downfield passing threat?
When Burrow is in , there is a 50/50 chance the ball will be passed down the field. That will keep defenses honest.

Good field general?

Oooh every LSU fans favorite term “dual threat”...careful now, you may make some posters soil their drawers.

Throws a beautiful accurate pass. The type of passes that receivers like to catch while still being accurate enough to keep out of the defender's hands. He has better than average scrambling ability and does not go down easily. He's tough and he has good size. He's the perfect SEC QB. He's been coached up by Urban. We're very lucky to have him choose us.
His highschool highlights.

Look, I'm excited about Burrow. But he hasn't had any meaningful PT. Yes, he looked very good against Nebraska, but that was late in the game against the Huskers' reserves.
Let's just all relax hope he's the real deal - but right now, we have zero way of knowing. I don't care how good he's looking with summer throwing with receivers. Most QBs are going to look good doing that.
Let's see what he does against Miami - then we'll know. Everything else is just a guess.

Everything you said is true, although maybe there’s a little more to go on than a guess. Then OSU QB coach and OC Tom Herman saw enough to like to recruit him, over others he could have gone after. And there is no doubt that Burrow has improved his skills and physical size and strength over that 4 star high school kid Herman signed.
Also, while he was throwing against Husker backups, he was also throwing to Buckeye backups from behind the backup O-line.
A Florida writer had an interesting take on Burrow months ago as to why he thought Joe would be a good fit for the Gators. It’s an interesting read and film study, and still applies today.
Joe Burrow Accuracy & Film Study

I think the most interesting lines from the article I linked to above are these:
If you constantly see a QB throwing to wide open receivers, it can’t always be because of a broken coverages. Defenses have to make choices about what they want to give up. It is the QBs job to exploit those weaknesses.
Burrow does this really well. His high accuracy numbers are not because he fits the ball into tight windows. It’s because he reads the defense well and delivers the ball decisively to the right place.

I am thinking its a done deal. Joe has the job. Brennan is the main threat to start over him and he just can’t get the kind of weight on that they need him too. I’d be surprised if he doesnt’t add the weight at some point, but just my opinion thats where they are right now.

Sorry that makes you upset, buddy. It’s not actually my info or opinion. It truly is my friends. He has access to things I don’t such as practices and what not. You may not have heard of him over here but he’s pretty well known on 247. FWIW, the 10x comment...pretty sure that was a bit of exaggeration that just meant he was a lot better in that area than previous guys.

They also recruited and signed Torrence Gibson that year

Size and strength sure. We just haven’t really seen those “skills” in an actual meaningful game or situation

The major premise of his article is that Burrow was accurate in high school. What college QB recruit isn’t? He then has two clips from Burrow playing up 46 points vs. Bowling Green and up 52 points vs Maryland. Look I hope he’s incredible and wins the heisman and LSU goes undefeated but the hype on this kid who couldn’t beat out JT Barrret or Haskins is out of control.

Nice reply, I was thinking the same thing. That's why Brees, Brady, Manning, Rodgers and the elite QBs are so good. Their football IQ is so high that pre/post snap reads of defensive formations/alignments/tendencies give them a good idea of where they need to go with the ball. The "speed" for these QBs are in their brain, they process things so fast they can keep sacks to a minimum because of their quick processing skills whether it's hitting the hot route or audibling to a different play to gain an advantage over defensive alignment.
