Exactly. I would recommend Central or Walker.

Gonzales/Prairieville is convenient to both BR and NOLA. LeBlanc's is your store.

Dont listen to the lousy people that think it's fun to shite on BR. Most of them are incapable of enjoying life around them. The others are just unable to see BR for what it is.
BR has its problems just like every decent-sized city. Just acknowledge that traffic sucks here and the politicians are mostly worthless.
Other than that, there is alot to enjoy here. I can go into more if you would like, but to answer your question...
Grocery Stores:
The best are going to be Alexander's, Calandros, Matherne's, Robert's... Some others that I'll go to because they are cheaper or more convenient are Rouses, Bet-R... After that it's your national stores. We have a Whole Foods, Fresh Market, and we are getting a Sprouts.
Bank:
Really hard to answer without knowing your banking needs. If you just want to open some checking accounts or something Chase, Hancock Whitney, Regions, or Iberia probably have the most ATMs and branches.
ETA: my response above is for BR. Mostly even along the I-10 corridor. I dont venture out towards Denham much.

No more... rouses bought them out a while back.
I don’t care for rouses. I shop at Alexander’s and the wife pops into Trader Joe’s and Costco from time to time.

I live off Perkins Road in Baton Rouge, basically the middle of town. I work nearby so I don't have the commute issues most do and I live near some really good grocery stores: Calandro's, Rouses, Fresh Market, Whole Foods, Albertson's and South Side Produce.. I think BR is the best city in the state to live.

this..after spending several years working as local Information Security for local banks, your best bet is a big boy..Yes, they have issues too but they are far more willing to spend the money to keep turds out

Rouse and Oak Point for food. Many credit unions and banks in Denham. You can drive to BR for work, fireworks, LSU events or if you want to get shot.

If you are going to be in Baton Rouge just stay south of Florida Blvd for housing.

I will be working in Denham Springs. I am more than likely renting a home in Denham Springs (especially after seeing the advice given here). I am a therapist that works with children with autism.
I plan on traveling into Baton Rouge when the university has an event of some sort or for other reasons.
I currently live in Jacksonville, FL, and it takes 15-20 minutes to get to anything. The city is that large and spread out as a land mass.
So, for me, taking a 15 minute drive into Baton Rouge for (name your reason here) doesn't concern me in the slightest.
The main grocery store we go to here (Publix) is not in Baton Rouge and surprisingly, neither is my bank (Wells Fargo). So, that's why I asked.
Is crime really that bad in Baton Rouge?
Again, thanks to all
