Question for the "legalize all drugs" crowd.

I can somewhat see the legalization of marijuana, but what about the hard drugs like heroin?
We've already got a herion epidemic in some parts of the country. What the frick you think will happen if it's legalized?
I'm not ready to see high school kids shooting up heroin. Are you?

I think when people say legalization they really mean highly regulated and decriminalized.

Legalizing all drugs doesn’t = ‘high school kids shooting up heroin’
A consenting, free adult should be able to do what he wishes with his body.

Not much. If you're not using Heroine now, I doubt you would do it if its legal. Legal stuff would be cheaper, less criminal activity would surround it.

There's nothing stopping them right now.

a) its heroin
b) its an epidemic across the country
c) treating opioid usage like a public health crisis and not a crime could be a game changer
d) I do not advocate for legalization of heroin, although I do think possession should be decriminalized.

Guess you don’t get out much because this already happens and has been for decades.
This is BS logic.

I highly doubt that kids are just going to all of a sudden start shooting up upon legalization of drugs.

Alcohol and cigarettes are legal but not for high school kids. So thats a shitty argument.

I dont think anyone who isnt already doing heroin would start doing heroin.

i have never done heroin but I have heard if you have never done it, and then shoot it up, it is intensely unpleasant.

Are you going to start using heroin if it's made legal? How many people do you know that would take up the wonderful life of heroin use, but for the legal bar?

The only thing stopping them is the law?

I'm for legalization of marijuana. However, other drugs that are more addictive should still be controlled. The economic impact of the opioid epidemic is estimated to be over $1T since 2001, and is only expected to get worse. That's not even counting the impact on our already taxed healthcare system.
Marijuana, yes. Everything else, no.

Exactly. What does putting a heroin addict in jail accomplish, really?

My stance is a little different
Legalize all of it. But make mandatory drug testing across large sections of the population.
You could buy it at a convenience store or government dispensary but not many could take it and or receive government assistance or government benefits.

Yeah like tobacco and alcohol. Oh wait.

What does decriminalization do to exacerbate any of that? What do you think the economic impact is of holding millions of junkies in our jails?
