Lebron is the cause. Had Lebron not signed with Miami then Shaq would have never signed with the Lakers.

There was never really loyalty in the NBA. Free agency has only been a thing since the late 80s. Since then we've seen Shaq leave his original team, Kobe demand a trade, Duncan flirt heavily with leaving his team and the afformentioned LeBron moves. KG has pretty much said outright he'd leave Minny on his own given another chance.

Yea, The heat beating OKC is what eventually sent Durant to GSW and the flood gates really opened after that.

No the loss to the Warriors and a cap increase made that happen.

In a way it is about money, how many of the guys jumping ship have already signed and collected on multiple max contracts? I mean once you have more money than you could ever spend why not go chase rings. Not sure what the answer is but with salaries going up like they are I don't see anything changing.

yeah. blame Lebron instead of the millions of people who constantly downplay his accomplishments on social media because Jordan has more rings.

players see that shite and know that unless they win 5 or more rings they'll always get trashed by 75% of NBA fans. and with this generation of bitch players they care more about their image than making more money and losing games.

they are gonna be rich anyway, but image is everything in their lives

Lebron mocking actually proves my point.

Everyone chuckles when Lebron loses again in the Finals, "ahhh you'll never catch Mike." But you turn around and lament that so many are ring chasing. You're perpetuating the entire dynamic.

Not everyone was ring chasing to get “not 1 not 2..” by player led recruitments of Eastern Conference All stars. Not until Lebron any way.

While I agree, Lebronstans constantly downplay Jordan’s accomplishments as if Jordan’s only accomplishments are the rings. Comes with ignorance and homerisms.

I’m guessing the pronoun ”you” is just a lazy word added because I don’t lament the decisions of millionaires. Also, I am basically KD’s burner phone.

People always bringing up the Celtics in this discussion and forgetting that they traded for both Allen and Garnett (and the TWolves had to basically beg him to approve the trade) is legitimately one of my biggest sports pet peeves

Something else I've noticed about NBA free agency is that city location/size seems to matter a lot more to the players for whatever reason. In the NFL, the biggest free agent signing this offseason signed with the Vikings. When's the last time a marquee free agent signed with the Timberwolves? I've never understood what that's such a bigger deal for NBA players than it is in NFL/MLB.

Choosing Jordan over Lebron is not ‘downplaying’ anything. When two players are close titles are a great tiebreaker. Putting Lebron #2 has the fanboys in such a frenzy that they blame the people who favour Jordan for super teams. When Kevin Durant said himself “Lebron paved the way” for him to go to GSW. Utterly Laughable.

Ray Allen and KG were on their 30’s when they went to Boston not their prime. Lebron left in his mid 20’s.

This doesn't explain lebron's decision.

Yes it does. With Stephenson and Rondo he INSTANTLY has a better chance to win in LA than he would in Cleveland. Golden state is still going to beat the shite out of them, but that’s immaterial to the fact that this laker team is going to be way better than what he just left. Then they’ll contend next year when Davis signs.

I seem to remember that there was an Orlando newspaper poll that had over 90% of the Magic fans say that Shaq wasn’t worth what he was wanting. Not sure why he should be loyal to those fans.

I get Maybe being loyal to your home
Town

But really what does the #1 pick owe a
Teams.

Not like the fricking went out on a limb and took him. He wasn’t a free agent scrounging for a shot.

You people are dumbasses, player mobility is the logical conclusion of free agency as American as it gets, deal with it

CLEARLY you don’t know the maxim “one great player rarely defeats a great team all by himself” which essentially was the case for LeBron his first Cleveland stint against SAS and Boston Big 3, ask John Elway about those first 3 Super Bowls he got destroyed in, etc
