BS

1. LeBron choked that series and was reflected in the stats, obviously played a role in the ultimate outcome especially when he's the best player in the sport
2. 26 PPG on 41% shooting is not defeating a great team all by himself, I'm sorry does not compute
3. Dallas benefitted from contributions throughout the series from multiple players, hell Brian frickING Cardinal and DeShawn Stevenson provided SIGNATURE FINALS MOMENTS IK I watched that Finals in real time plus Tyson did as Tyson did in being an effective enforcer

Never heard that maxim. And we aren’t talking about a mere ‘great player’. We are taking about the guy who could’ve been GOAT.

CLEARLY you don’t know the maxim:

To who much is given much is expected.

As a fan we all want our favorite teams players to be loyal, but the truth is that they should do what is best for themselves. We require players to be loyal while organizations time and time again don't offer the player the same. Boston wasn't loyal to Isaiah but it was the right move for their organization. Both the team and players ultimately have to do what's best for them. They often times don't have the irrational emotional investment like us fans.

What about Garnett and Allen going to the Celtics in 07?

I’m so tired of this lazy myth. Both of those players - well all three actually, were past their primes. They reacted to free agency and came together to win.

The Heat formation was a different monster - three 23 year olds independently from their teams, conspired together at the olympics to ensure their contracts were up in 2009 so they could sign with the same team. Riley was made privey, and opened up the space to make it happen. It was a planned move years out, circumventing the Cavs and the Raptors, to get three best friends in their primes together to win “not 1, not 2...ok 2”. So yeah, Lebron, my beloved Laker, shares in the blame. Anyone who denies this is being retarded.

GS, as a TEAM, isn’t breaking the game. The GM is just doing his job. The core three were drafted and bred at GS. Durant is the one to blame for stacking GS. GS would have been retarded to NOT offer for him if he was interested and willing.

Same with Boogie if it is true no one else offered.

Ok, we can go back to the reserve clause days. Then you'll have tons of Mike Trout's in the NBA wasting their prime years on mediocre teams. In 8 seasons he has made the playoffs once losing to Kansas City. Plus with the reserve clause players would be severely underpaid

Or Gary Payton and Karl Malone going to the Lakers

Also doesn’t compare - Payton and Malone were both around 40 years old at the time.

Applying what the Heat did to them would be like Malone and Payton leaving to join the Bulls in 1990 after meeting with Jordan.

For my money, this is the real start. Payton and Malone were direct that they were on the downside of their career and wanted rings so they joined the Lakers.

Payton and Malone were older, but both were coming off 20 ppg years. Malone sustained very well as a player until he blew his knee with the Lakers.

Try MUCH older.

Put Malone, Payton, together with Jordan and/or Pippen all at the age of 26 then compare.

If we applied the same standard to Wade and Bosh today then both wouldn’t even be in the NBA at this late time in their prospective careers.

That’s how silly the comparison is.

And what we received was arguably the most accomplished career in NBA history, a 27-7-7 career average on 50% shooting, IIRC dude possesses basically like 60+ NBA records currently insane

I'm not comparing, I'm saying that's the modern origin of great players ring chasing.

As I posted above, both Payton and Malone were coming of 20 ppg seasons. Payton was an all star the previous year. They weren't washed up bench guys ring chasing.

Lebron mocking actually proves my point.

Everyone chuckles when Lebron loses again in the Finals, "ahhh you'll never catch Mike." But you turn around and lament that so many are ring chasing. You're perpetuating the entire dynamic.

this is it. This is the exact right answer. For some reason, ever since he came in the league, so many people did not want LeBron to be the best. So ever since he started playing, the myth that he'd never be as good as Mike because he would never have the rings began. YOU ARE ALL TO BLAME YOU CUCKS

It's fricking ridiculous.

These guys have a limited amount of time in their careers. They should live their lives as they see fit. If I were them the last thing I'd be worried about is adhering to some ridiculous code of loyalty to appease a subset of fans.

Why should players be loyal to who drafted them? I just said the word "drafted," they didn't choose to go there.
