Dude is literally calling a match every fricking day on like 5 hours of sleep flying around Russia. You can tell from his IG story he is spent

shame on Fox for being so cheap that most the matches are called from LA and they couldn't fly more people out, that the crews in Russia get no breaks and have to get around non stop instead of staying in a city for a few days.

Tony Meola was on SiriusXM FC last week talking about how brutal it has been.. including shitty accommodations in some of the smaller cities.. He then said he was suppose to be off the next day, but they asked hime to call a match and he accepted and had to go get on a plane..

He’s terrible. He nitpicks every single thing the players do. Describes how he’d do it differently, And how much better it would be if they did it his way.

I believe they have three teams out there right?

Even so, what's stopping Fox from using the LA-based teams to call some of the matches?

Yeah, it sucks that they have so many announcer teams in the US, but I'm not sure there's a cause and effect in terms of Holden and Strong calling as many games as they have.

I think the teams with Stu, Meola, and Aly are three that I know of.

I don't really blame them. The games are on mostly during the workday, and the US isn't in it. Fox is not going to make enough money to justify those travel expenses. On the other hand, England is in the tournament, in a much closer time zone, and soccer is their must popular sport.

It sucks that Fox isn't putting the same effort in as the BBC, but it makes complete sense.

ESPN never went cheap on its effort

Well unless we are talking about champions league matches back in the 90s

Also BBC put the same effort in Brazil as it did now. So the going across world thing doesn’t fly.
