That's why they've been closed?
Enjoying that free publicity?

It's weird that you consider having something like maybe a MAGA hat sat on the table would be "making a scene".
I think that says a lot about you as a person.
Your intention is to just wear a hat? I doubt you would get your coveted free meal.

Trump voters are probably not the target demo for upscale restaurants

Maybe wear a shirt, or hat. One of the two.
But of course, I'm not going to expose it till I'm almost done eating(but not actually done).
Too easy. Then, I can rely on their Trump Derangement Syndrome........something you share........for my free meal.

Written by a former resident, naval aviator and great friend. I’m watching one of the most tolerant, politically diverse, and beautiful towns be torn apart by America because of one person. Lexington, VA is so much more than The Red Hen. We never once ate there in our time being stationed there... it is over priced and out of the way. The actual Main Street in Lexington is full of great food, stores and people, and has both a very liberal university and a military college. While I support the right to refuse service, if you represent your city, you should strongly consider the backlash of your actions. I am very disappointed in the choices that were made that night, not because of politics or support of anything political, but because of the shadow that was cast that night on many hard working small business owners that now have a battle on their hands when they had no part in the incident. If you go to Lexington, don’t go because of The Red Hen... go because of restaurants like The Southern Inn, Sweet Treats, Manos, Pronto, Pure Eats, The Bistro and many others... go for the cute stores like Books & Co., Toys, too, Walkabout Outfitter, Lexington (Virginia) Farmer's Market, Gladiola Girls Lexington, and many others. Go for the history, the amazing breweries like Great Valley Farm Brewery, or for a horse drawn tour of the town with a very rich history and amazing views of the blue ridge mountains. To my friends and business owners who are dealing with this and will be directly impacted by the economic backlash, hang in there, people will move on and they will see, once again, how cool your little town is.

This free publicity is probably good for the restaurant and the city. People will come to lexington to eat there. And spend their money in the city
Is this a shitty troll or is this poster really this dumb?

Lexington is not quite the size of Port Allen. It does have 2000 more people though. Approximately 4,200 were Hildawg voters. If all of them commit to go there 1 time a month that is 4,200 meals per month. If they bring a date it is 8,400 meals per month.
8,400 meals per month, averaging $50 per meal is $420,000 per month If she pulls 8% in profit that is about $1,100 a day in profit.
These numbers are based on 280 meals per day in a building that is smaller than most public restrooms. She may need a bigger place to accommodate all these new people that are going to support her for being county to an innocent woman and her family.
Real world grownup talk says she goes out of business in less than a year. Slaughtering an innocent is never looked on with favor by the jury in the court of public opinion.
I lived in Lexington for 16 years before moving to Louisiana, funny enough, thanks for the wikipedia entry.
You forgot to factor in students at W&L, which is honestly who restaurants like the Red Hen are mostly catering to. If you can get a regular customer base from the locals? Great. But a foodie-driven farm-to-table dinner spot like the Red Hen is far from worried about what the people in the county think of the restaurant. They have a private liberal arts college basically across the street from them.
Will they go out of business in a year? Probably not. This is going to galvanize some kind of regular base that keeps them going for a while. There will be something else to draw outrage within the next week or so.

And they are all really, really smart. Just ask them, or talk to them and they will bring it up.

Are you trying to tell me a former Navy pilot used the term, "cute stores?"
Posted on 6/25/18 at 9:28 pm to Shiftyplus1
...so the idiot owner goes broke, sells the restaurant to a Trump supporter who renames it Red State and has to call in cops to direct traffic because of the business.
The irony of Poetic Justice!
MAGA!

So in your mind there is no chance that she did this for the reason she said she did -- that the restaurant had certain standards that she feel it has to uphold, such as honesty, and compassion, and cooperation -- instead of part of some grandiose overarching sinister plan?

It’s a restaurant, not a house of worship.

just a heads up, the best way to let a place like this know what you think is not to send them nasty messages or leave bad yelp reviews.
you make reservations (using a throwaway number)for a party of 8 or 6 during prime time. then get a dozen of your autistic friends to do the same. do this for a few weeks, especially on Friday and Saturday night.

I love watching conservative hypocrisy in action. If the roles were flipped you guys would be screaming about how unAmerican this is.
