Those houses are worth maybe 225 max. people were arguing they could list for 275 and sell that day.

I shopped for better part of year in the freaking metropolitan area and y'all are the crazy ones. You can get 275 for those house all freaking day if they are even remotely updated. I wouldn't blink an eye to think Lee's house was 300k

There is a 2bd/2ba listed for 265k down the street with zero updates. Lee had a 4 bd /2.5 bath and plenty updates

Looking to buy in the not too distant future. Really don’t want to cross into Jefferson Parish but just might have to

Damn...most county assessors do around 70-80% value. No wonder LA schools are so poor.

fck that guy. he was a piece of shite person, but Big Lee didn't deserve to die like that

From what I read in the paper at the time of the slaying, it sounded like this Lee character was instigating the situation and they had a long standing feud of some sort.

Now, I seriously doubt I'd kill someone for hosing my vehicle and then hosing the inside of it when I rolled down my window to complain, but sometimes people just snap when they've had enough.

Rumor is that guy has terminal cancer. Is that not the case?

That doesn't seem accurate. Surely if he had terminal cancer he would make the court aware of that in making his case for lowering his bail

Also unconfirmed is the rumor that Mr. Higgins yelled "Go Tulane! Green WAVE! HULLABALLOOOO!" in open court during his arraignment.

Oh you mean the house that's been sitting on the market with practically 0 interest for 6 months?

Not sure why everyone is hating on Wayne Higgins in here. Yea, what he did was illegal, but he did the world a favor, and he's a hero for taking one for the team

That's why the thread title calls him "Local Hero Wayne Higgins".

Just be careful not to irritate him in any way because he starts to kill living things when that happens. Other than that, he's a Local Hero.

I'm assuming you're talking about the one on demosthenes.

If so, that one was a full reno to the studs and was on a ~9000sqft lot. That, and the fact that it wasn't 3 doors down from the interstate. It sold for less than asking btw.

The fact that houses a couple blocks away sold for X doesn't really matter when you factor in that none of those houses are on the corner of I 10 and bonnabel.

Someone called this correctly. His attorney is trying to paint him as a frail, old man
quote:

Higgins is in ill-health -- he appeared in court in a wheelchair with an oxygen tank
But, that definitely doesn't correlate with this
quote:

Wayne Higgins climbed out of his truck, unzipped his fanny pack, pulled out a .380-caliber handgun and adopted a "two-handed shooting stance" before firing the single bullet that killed tow truck driver Lee "Big Lee" Martin

You don’t shoot someone with a gun over disputes. You don’t go killing people over constant disagreements. This guy clearly can’t control his rage.

It’s such a pussy thing to do to just shoot someone. Either walk away, call the police, or go fight.

You can’t guarantee something else won’t just set him off. You can’t gdt away with murder over something so petty. It sets a horrible precedent.

What's ironic about this is that if Big Lee had never lost that mountain of fat from around his body, that bullet probably would have been stopped somewhere in that fat without ever hitting anything vital.

Makes you think, doesn't it? Sometimes, losing weight will directly lead to your death.

Big Lee, you decided to lose weight and look where you are now.

I didn't mean anything disrespectful.

Rest in peace, Big Lee.

Bunch of y’all clearly don’t know the real estate market if you think that house isn’t worth 250k plus easy. This area from Bonnabel down to right before lake avenue is a hot market right now. No fricking way that house would sell for less than 250k. Bet
