Verlander: 6.2 innings. 122 pitches, 10 strikeouts, 1 earned run. And can’t fricking get a win AT HOME because of this retarded home offense. Its a broken record with this offense at home. He should have at least 4 more wins if we could manage just 3 damn runs at Minute Maid when he starts.

Well, the bench was empty
McCann was still available. He's better than Jake. Burns the backup catcher but I fail to see how that's any different than when we pinch hit one C for the other.
Would have dictated more stupid defense if we tied it but worth the reward.
Tuve stays in at 2nd
Bregman goes to LF
Reddick to RF which burns the DH spot
Marwin getting tossed set off a shite storm.

Bring up Tucker and leave Marisnick down permanently. Right now. Gotta get it done.

Once they feel Ted is ready there is absolutely no reason the corresponding move shouldn’t be Jake getting DFA’d
Hes ready. 3/4 with a double hitting over .300 for the season and well over .400 in the last ten games

Yeah it’s time to see what Ted can do between now and July 31 so you can see what deals need to be made

I still disagree with using rondon in the 7th and 8th. It seemed clear that he was thriving in the closer role. Hinch could have used peacock to get that out in the 7th and pitch the 8th. Or put Giles in to pitch the 8th like he had been doing. I just don’t get changing the formula that was starting to work.
He was asked about it in the postgame and his reaction was that rondon’s one of our best relievers and he would throw him against anyone. I wished the reporter would have pressed him more.

So when would you have used Rondon tonight if not in that spot?

That's a surefire way to get you a promotion to somewhere like Boston. It was probably McTaggart

When we got a lead. Or if the game was tied in extra innings. Apparently the “formula” we thought AJ established with Giles in the 8th and Rondon in the 9th was not a formula at all. It was a temporary thing.
I get what AJ was trying to do. He wanted his most reliable pitcher (of late) to shut down that part of the Rays’ order. It didn’t work. Although who knows how that chopper goes with a more agile bregman at 3rd instead of an old looking yuli. But will he go back to giles in the 8th and rondon in the 9th? It had been working.
It just bothers me. Like giving days off to guys that are red hot at the plate.
I’m disappointed in the loss not devastated. I knew the streak would end eventually. It’s easy to critique after the fact but it’s becoming too predictable that this offense shits the bed at home against any halfway decent pitcher and even against some that aren’t. Of all the games to lose in the last 13 it was in a game where we probably got the best starting pitching performance.

Why keep one of your best relievers (who didn’t pitch last night) on the sidelines waiting for something to happen?

I think the “formula”, which I agree with if it’s true, is to use your best relievers in the highest leverage spots. It’s impossible to predict in the flow of the game but I thought he picked a pretty good spot to bring Rondon in. The problem is who he has out there IMO, not how he uses them.

Minute Maid is Actually a Pitchers Park
This has been statistically true for several years now.
Minute Maid was 22nd in park factor in 2015. 30th in 2016 and 2017, and is currently 27th in 2018.

Yeah that’s what the article talks about. Sometime in 2016 it changed.
Overall it gives up cheap HRs but supresses offense in general. Especially ours
We have like a 10% lower hard hit rate and 3% more ground balls at home

I know we've become used to Hoohoo starting the new DAT but someone else is going to have to do it.

That would be amazing if they then went on to win 20 in a row.
Posted on 6/20/18 at 10:38 am to Jwho77
Seeing their future schedule there is no reason to not to win 10-12 in a row again. The A's are the only team over .500 at 37-36 they play until after the All-Star game
