What about the hundreds of millions of dollars that Iran owes the families of those people killed who were awarded that in wrongful death lawsuits? When do those people get their money from Iran?

To me, it's analogous to confiscating the assets of a drug cartel. You don't give that money back unless you want future problems. As noted, the families of the dead at the embassy, our service personnel that were prisoners of their regime, and the cost of the embassy are all factors that were ignored. frick them!

They took Americans hostage and the frozen assets were a consequence. Those hostages should have sued the Iranians, and the money should have been used to pay the victims. Unless you are Obama and just give it back plus interest.

I suppose we should have let Iran fall into the hands of the Soviets, because that's exactly where Mossadegh was leading them. There are a whole lot of myths about CIA involvement in what happened in Iran that have been perpetuated by communist sympathizing academics. I have no use for their bullshite.

we siezed all their assets in America
the money they paid us sat in a bank for 30 years
when the Iran deal was signed we had to give them back the money plus interest to avoid a World Court decision and used it as part of the Iranian deal
