frick them...it was part of their assets frozen during
the hostage crisis but that money should have been divided up among the hostages and to the families of the Marines who were blown up in Beriut.

We are now the de facto number 1 funder of terrorism in
the world.

Wonder what the leftist cocksuckers would say if trump ever made 13 payments of 99,999,999 to avoid scrutiny?

I know exactly what they would say

My understanding is it was their money. Monies that were paid by the Shah for the purchase of F-15's that were never delivered, plus Iranian funds in American financial institutions that were frozen, plus interest earned for all those years.

So it was the Iranian government's money. Whether we should have returned it is another matter.

There is not one Embassy in the US I would feel I "had to give back" as its our country and if we chose to shut it down I'm damn sure not paying you for it.

The list of Iranian ties to terror is long. They were rewarded by Americans for helping kill Americans. Frick Iran.

No just fricking no.

i dont remember exactly what it was I thought it was a fleet of 15's but it was a large military purchase that we seized the down payment when the Shah was overthrown

from Fortune

The major issue between the two governments was a $400 million payment for military equipment made by the government of the Shah of Iran, prior to the 1979 uprising that topped him. The U.S. banned delivery of the jets and other weapons amid the hostage crisis, but froze the $400 million advance payment. “The Pentagon handled arms purchases from foreign countries,” says Gary Sick, a former National Security Council official who served as the principal White House aide for Iran during the Iranian Revolution and the hostage crisis. “Defense took care of the details. So the $400 million scheduled purchase was a government-to-government transaction. The U.S. government was holding the money. That’s why it was so difficult to resolve.”

By 2015, the issue stood before a panel of nine judges, including three independent jurists, who were reportedly near a decision on binding arbitration. According to Obama administration officials, the U.S. was concerned that the tribunal would mandate an award in the multiple billions of dollars. “The Iranians wanted $10 billion,” says Sick.”I estimate that the tribunal would have awarded them $4 billion. That’s what the lawyers were saying. It’s not as much as they wanted, but a lot more than we paid.”

So instead, the U.S. negotiators convinced Iran to move the dispute from arbitration to a private settlement. The two sides reached an agreement in mid-2015, at the same time as the U.S. and Iran reached a comprehensive pact on curtailing Iran’s development of nuclear weapons. The financial deal called for the U.S. to refund $1.7 billion to Tehran, consisting of the original $400 million contract for military equipment, plus $1.3 billion in interest.

This is my understanding....we agreed to international arbitration and were facing having to pay-out a lot more. So Obama folded the remittance as part of the nuclear agreement. People seem to want to ignore that an international tribunal was expected to rule in favor of Iran on this matter.

Thats nice.
We are not the British. What part did they play in the justifiable outing of the criminal Mosedegh? Did his backstabbing of the British have anything to do with their actions against him?

"The military coup that overthrew Mossadeq and his National Front cabinet was carried out under CIA direction as an act of U.S. foreign policy, conceived and approved at the highest levels of government,"

And yes.. the brits helped.
