I wouldnt get too caught up in colors
Go buy some watermelon red, and some junebug
I have 15+ different colors in my bag, and they all collect dust as those are the ones I use

Do most of y'all keep the point of the hook inside the plastic (Last step) when doing the Texas rig setup?

point of the hook inside the plastic
if you're fishing anywhere with weeds, grasses, others snags, it's almost essential. An exposed hook will lead to you cleaning off your bait or getting snagged more than actually fishing. It's simpler than you're making it

Just remember to set the hook when you feel a bite

to differentiate a bite from hitting structure, watch for the movement in your line

I don’t texpose mine like they do (pushing the hook all the way through and then burying it in the “skin”). I just bury the hook about 3/4 of the way through the plastic. It makes it more weedless and the hook will have no trouble coming through on a hook set.

What size offset hook do you guys recommend? 2/0, 3/0, or 4/0 with the texas rigs/worms?
Posted on 6/5/18 at 3:53 pm to LSUperior
Just depends on the size of the bait you'll be using. If you'll be throwing around senkos and flukes, go with the 4/0. For more compact baits like the speed craw, I'd go 3/0.

Use a Pop-R at daylight and dusk.

smaller baits like Beetle spins and H & H's can do some damage in ponds as well...
If I am taking one bait to a neighborhood pond, it is a Beetle Spin. In fact, this is the only answer.

For pond bass, hard to beat an H&H

Does the pond have lillies or matted grass? Throw a frog in that junk and wait for them to explode. Now that it’s good and hot they’ll be laying under any shade they can find.

No lillies or grass...real clean.

tie a good size weight on without a hook and just drag the bottom with it and try to find anything down there

Tiny Torpedo and Devil's Horse always worked well in our farm pond

Is there any structure? If so, Carolina rig baby brush hog in watermelon or pumpkin.
Was coming to post this myself. Perfect.
