Why is this board so intolerant of dissenting views?

For a message board titled the “political talk” board, it shocks me how intolerant the vast majority of posters on this board are of left of center political positions. As they say, familiarity breeds contempt, and one would think that those debating politics would welcome opinions From those on the other side of the aisle to better understand those who disagree with them and how compromises could be made to make progress for everyone. Just my two cents.

How do you define intolerance?
If this board was truly intolerant of dissenting opinions, they would just ban anyone that didn't toe the line - like DU.
