Tell me about this place. Thinking of stopping here for lunch next Saturday on the way to BR from Houston. The Parrain Special caught my eye, and my wife is a sucker for a great grilled cheese and they have a pulled pork and grilled cheese.

FYI - the wife loves Olde Tyme Grocery and always wants to stop there, so I'm in danger if this doesn't live up. Or I guess we could it both!

Get the ribs!

Also, they don't have indoor seating, so it may be quite warm.

country style ribs are to die for. their biscuits and grilled cheeses are amazing. some of my favorite boudin balls around (love the batter, much lighter than Billy's and the like).

you cant go wrong with anything. im going into lafayette this weekend and can't wait to go

They have pretty solid plate lunches and boudin. If she likes Old Tyme, she'll love Pop's Poboys.

Johnson's is good. I've not had anything there that I didn't like.

The Parrain special is my go-to. From reading the description and looking at the pictures, that sandwich has no right being as good as it is, but damned if it isn't just greater than the sum of its parts.

Bring a fan or eat in the car. They have no indoor seating.

This.
If the old lady wants poboys, bring her to pop's. If she wants real Cajun food, bring her to Johnson's

Their boudin links are 1/2 or less the size of any other boudin link that I have had throughout Acadiana. I wonder why they make them so short?

it’s sold by the weight so I never worried about it. Their boudin is my favorite in Lafayette

Pretty much echo what everyone has said. Ive never had anything at Johnsons that was even average. Old tyme always a great go to. As others mentioned she would love Pop's if she likes Old Tyme. All three are winners.

Interesting. I agree that it is very good, but I have never ordered hot boudin to eat by weight. I have always just ordered the number of links I plan on eating while it is hot. Usually, I order one link (along with a couple other treats) and eat it. I did that at Johnson's and was sorely disappointed. Not the end of the world as I learned my lesson and just ordered more the next time. Still, an oddity that varies from every single boudin joint that I have ever been to. It really is tee tiny.

When you order, you'll have to get accustomed to ordering by the pound, or half pound.. that's just how it's done.. Because sometimes a link can be 3 ft long.
Or ask to see a link first, then order by the link.. (but that's kinda the candy arse way of doin it)
