But, pitching Peterson would be akin to pitching Hilliard.

What? One has been experiencing shoulder soreness for 2+ weeks and one is healthy and hasn't thrown much. How are they similar?

Lol WHAT

Gausman pitched the last inning against Stony Brook in 2012 then started the next game that day

You can't heat the arm up, then sit down for 3 hours and then go heat it up again. You just don't do that.

But if that is true he is dumb AF for pitching him in the first game with a four run lead

It was idiotic. Ironically, the only logical reason for it was because he already had Peterson warmed up. Thus, it wouldn't matter if he pitched or not, he would have already been spent for tonight.

If the game was right after this one, you might have seen Peterson continue, like he did with Gaussman a few years back. But, with the delay between the end of game, Peterson is done.

Bro Peterson threw 14 pitches. He's a fricking athlete. That's like he got up to toss a bit then sat down. He'll be fine.

By committee usually blows up on LSU and becomes a shite show in the NCAA tournament. Houston 2014, TCU 2015

"By committee" doesn't due justice to what we are going to roll out there tonight. By committee with quality arms is plan that's plausible to have success. This is the bottom of our pen. The bottom of the worse bullpen we've had in a decade. Fontenot and Bain are the only 2 quality arms we have...and they are marginal. Gilbert will be next even though he hasn't shown he's capable of pitching well these days.

I'm so mad about Mainieri being so afraid of losing earlier today that he burned every quality pitcher we had left. He deserves to have to sit through this shite show tonight. It's going to be bad.

shite, that FSU pitcher. Threw 100 pitches before a 2 1/2 hour delay and came back to throw 30 more. I think Peterson is good to go as well.

Peterson will throw tonight. He threw at most 15 pitches, similar to warming up then sitting down. He is fine to go.

You can't pitch someone twice in a day man. Not with 3+ hours between appearances. Not a kid with Peterson's future.

I'm going to stop short of saying you're wrong and just agree to disagree. He only threw 14 pitches. Pitchers warm up in the pen and then sit and then warm up again all the time. He's fine to pitch. It really is exactly the same as Gausmann.

I was typing that at the same time as you. That was justified by the games being back to back and he stayed warm throughout the time between the delay. In this case, he's cooled off. It would have been hours between his outings.

Mainieri should be shot if he does that to a kid with the odds this team is facing right now.

You should be fired from posting. The dude threw 11 pitches. In tournament ball since kids are like 12, they will have situations where they will close a game and it is essentially warming them up to start the following game that day.

Needless to say, I disagree with most in this thread.

This is what I think:

* No reasonable coach would have pitched Peterson in game 1 if he planned on using him in game 2.
* Pitching him with a 4 run lead makes it even worse
* Pitching even 14 pitches in a game, then cooling down, then pitching again is very different than what Gausman did. It's been 2+ hours already.
* It won't matter. We won't be close enough in the game to use Peterson.
* If by some miracle, we are close in the 8th, Mainieri MIGHT go to Peterson out of need...and that bothers me a lot.
* If he someone hurts Peterson by doing this, I'll honestly for the first time support Mainieri being fired...especially with the Hilliard situation.
