Many of those comedians, like DL Hughley, Wanda Sykes, and Trevor Noah are people of color. Why is that not considered racist, but Roseanne's comment is?

The comedian Godfrey has a show on Urban View (Sirius 126). I can hardly stomach him, but the other day he spent a good portion of his show explaining how white people look more like monkeys than black. His main point was that monkeys have thin lips like white people.
But not a single advertiser or special interest group has called him out or the radio station.
It's a sickening double standard.

I don't really get this comparison.
There is a double standard with media outrage.
This isn't a particularly good example of it.
Comparing black people to primates to challenge their personhood is an actual thing. It makes all the sense in the world that people would react particularly harshly to that, and that the same would not be equally true for calling Trump an orangutan.

I love how this board feigns ignorance over the ugly history of comparing black people to monkeys, apes, etc., and how those comparisons were long based solely in racism.
It is inappropriate to label white people that way, but there's just not the racist history of it like there is with calling black people those words.
Sorry. That's just the way it is. Fair? Maybe not, but it's the reality of what our nation was for almost 200 years of its history.

One has a much darker history than the other and is likely far more hurtful than the other. I don't give a shite if someone says I look like an animal, but scientists haven't tried to dehumanize me for centuries on that basis, either.
