In fairness, the article is saying that it's tone deaf for the president's daughter to post a picture of her snuggling her child on social media when the government is currently dealing with the scandal of "misplacing" like 1,500 kids.

Now, reasonable people can argue about said tone deafness, but I think it's useful to clarify here

"Tone deafness" is now a thing people are supposed to give a crap about and warrants an article??

It's a thing people have cared about for a very long time, and sometimes?

Is this really a new concept for you?

I dont think a mother posting a picture of her nuclear family saying she cherishes those moments can ever be tone deaf. The seperation of families is a choice that the parents made by breaking the law. They knew the risks. Every choice has consequences. The families could have stayed and are welcome to stay all together in their country of origin and wait in line like everyone else and truly become immigrants.

I've burned all my childrens photos in locking arms with the writers feelings. I will no longer show my kids affection in public as it makes those who have lost children or can't have children feel bad.

I will not be accused of being tone deaf.

Prog on!

Certainly your prerogative, though I hope you can see a distinction between yourself and the daughter of the president when it comes to public perception/reaction

Here is the problem. In order not to appear tone deaf the conversation would have to go like this:

Wife: 'Honey, don't forget we have a portrait session with the photographer today. I got a cute outfit for Jr.'

Husband: "We can't do that."

Wife: 'Why not?'

Husband: 'Because it will demonstrate how little we care about the plight of illegal aliens who are being separated by deportation.'

Wife: 'OMG, you're right. I never thought about that. I'll call and cancel the photo shoot. I'll donate Jr's outfit to Goodwill.'

This only exists in your mind.
You should make an effort to interact with more people....get out of the bubble sometimes.

I don't mess with the children of the Presidents and I try not to say negative things about their looks or crass comments on the FLOTUS.

This is a ridiculous angle and should die a quick death but some will prog on.

Again, the who is important.

If you, Zach, had a dream vacation planned for September 15th, 2001, no one would have bat an eye if you went, enjoyed yourself, and took all the pictures.

If you happened to live in New York next door to someone who lost their spouse when the towers collapsed, people would probably look at you a little sideways.

If you are the President of the United States, you would be pilloried in every publication in the country.

No it isn't. Posting a picture with her family isn't tone deaf. Trump didn't make the laws, he is simply enforcing them. I wonder how many articles were written about kids of congressmen taking pictures with their families? Zero? Odd, since it is their parents who made the law.

This is just another lazy article caused by TDS.

If it punishes illegals for coming here and discourages others from coming here, I’m all for it.
We should do that to every illegal we find, everywhere and every time.
Find an illegal kid, take it from the parents until they come to claim it then deport them all.
They are not IMMIGRANTS
They are foreigner INVADERS
They are an invading ARMY
Use every and all means possible to evict them from our lands.

Wow. New Yorkers are more fricked up than I thought. I don't give a shite who goes on vacation where or when.
But you have jogged an old brain cell. When I was a senior in HS I had a Saturday tennis date with my buddy Patrick. We were both very serious players.

In Friday's paper I noticed the obit of Pat's father who died of a heart attack. The funeral was Sat. I called Patrick with condolences and said we could try tennis later.

He said 'No, I'd rather play tennis than go to the funeral.' We had a great time.
