I get you.... people are retarded here, but when the people that make the show say this is what Trump’s America will look like and make direct ridiculous comparisons, that’s inviting political discourse.
I actually like Donald Glover’s video last week. He releases it and leaves it open to interpretation.

It's more of a a coup in the US, with extremest types leading it, and women becoming nothing more than slaves.
Plausible map of the territories in The Handmaids Tale.

I like dystopian fiction anyway, but I think the appeal of the Handmaid's Tale is that it is f'n great, and a shockingly good adaptation (and now world expansion) of one of the greatest books of the past 50 years.
My biggest gripe with the show is that it has gotten unrelentingly bleak. It's been hard to watch as it almost banished hope... and then it brings me back in with a brilliant line in context, "Cows don't get married." And boom, I'm back in.

I haven't seen any comparison to real politics in Handmaid's Tale

as long as they are not making the direct comparisons within the show, I don't really care what the creators say in some interview

Really.
Show me the poll where the majority of "the left" believes what he stated.
I'll wait.

Now, the reviews are only based on how many boxes a certain show checks for the reviewers worldview instead of just enjoying a finely crafted work.
That was certainly a major reason for the praise of the Ghostbusters reboot and Black Panther.
I did keep reading reviews seeing the tagline, "we need this movie now more than ever." What?
What social problems is an all female dumb boring stupid joke Ghostbusters or Black Panther going to solve?
Just make a good movie man.

Nope. What I posted was more accurate. Of course, like everything else in that religion, it's open to different interpretations and translations.

You know this is based on a book written long before our current mistake, correct?

I didn’t mention a thing about any political undertones.

It’s popular because being a fan of the show is an easy way to virtue signal. And the show’s at least not terrible.

I'm going with at least 98%. Keep in mind that these people have daughters and there's not a chance in hell they'd want this society for them. There may be like 3 people I've ever met that would go for this, and they are disgusting human beings.
