Wondering why a place has to be a fricking dump just because they serve the most interesting beer in town is inconsequential? Okay.

Anyway, enjoying the last of my growler of Waiting for my Nirvana, I picked up on the way home. Even brought my kids in to get some Asian dumplings from the guys cooking outside. They ate em on the spool. The beer is quite tasty.

You really need to get out in the city if you classify Courtyard as a dump.

Not sure what makes it a dump, I've never left smelling trashy or being dirty. The palm trees make it look like Hawaii after a few beers.

Y.A. And I know you know this. Most breweries areas for patrons are pretty rustic. Ya there are some exceptions for bigger breweries but this is pretty standard. It’s about the beer. I’d sit on a lawn chair to drink courtyard IPA’s.

Lawn chairs would be an upgrade. Why do people get so triggered by this? I still go there, it just seems a lot shittier space than it could/should be. I'm not asking for velvet ropes and leather chaises.

As far as seating and comfort goes, it is by far the worst brewery in New Orleans. Their beers are great enough to overcome that though.

Bring your own lawn chair. I do sometimes. It's shitty because Scott started it without a large start-up investment fund from a financial institution. He started it with $80k. He is looking to upgrade with a second, much nicer, location with profit that he has made off his humble beginnings. Courtyard is 4 years old. I don't understand why this is such a big problem for you.

It was a couple of flippant comments on a message board.

I'll be okay.

We did NOLA first and enjoyed it. Decent selection, good bbq to snack on, pretty crowded for an afternoon but it was a fun crowd. Hit up Urban South after that since it was close. Enjoyed the atmosphere and they had some “art” gallery going on that was fun to laugh at but they only had 4 beers on tap. No variety at all just a Pilsner and 3 IPAs. I’d expect such a large space to offer more selections. We had one each and left. Went to Couryard next and enjoyed the beer but Jesus this place didn’t plan anything out. They have almost nowhere to sit inside and outside is just a furnace under the sun with a handful of broken chairs. No shade anywhere. Took our beer to go and left. We decided to just bar hop after that from Canal to Frenchman which was more fun and cheaper beer than the breweries. Not sure why the breweries charge $6 a beer when you can get it cheaper at a bar down the street.

Good luck finding Courtyard beer down the street.

Been that way for a few weeks. Reading this board it is the best brewery in the state though.

Oh shite.

And, yeah, Urban South needs to up their game on their variety of offerings. I'm not sure what's going on there.

They’ve been mass producing the regular stuff which puts them behind in the taproom. It looks like they just expanded with some more tanks so that should help out.

It’s sad because Urban south has the best setup as far as space, parking, family friendly, etc. I just didn’t like their selection. Birmingham breweries put New Orleans to shame hands down. I’d expect New Orleans to have a better scene by now.

I expected much more from Courtyard after reading about it here. I guess people only went in the winter or at night.
