Got married last week and my groomsmen surprised me with an awesome piece. Already bought a scope mount for it and thinking a light scope with a small objective will do. Suggestions are welcome.

As for the rifle, the fit and finish is great, the lever is butter smooth, and the trigger is probably about 3 pounds. The only thing that will take some getting used to is that the cheek weld is more of a chin-weld. The stock is at a steeper angle than I expected but shouldn’t be hard to adjust to it.

Congrats! I prefer just using the iron sights on a lever gun (no scope).

Helluva gift!

But I'm with weagle on this one. Iron sights are pretty classic on a lever gun. Especially a plinker load like .22.

Congratulations on the nuptials!

That’s one heck of a gift from the groomsmen.

I have a 22lr golden boy and it is one of the smoothest lever actions I've ever felt. That's all my family has ever shot in 22. The iron sights are awesome and they are very accurate. My old man has a 22 magnum golden boy collecting dust. Good luck trying to not scratch it.

Congrats on the limited sex from now on.

Awesome gift. I was stupid and was the first of my friends to get hitched. Some guys were still in college. Now, we all have money to buy cool shite.

I didn’t know that groomsmen gave gifts the the groom. I gave gifts to my groomsmen but I didn’t get anything when I was the groom.

I feel cheated now.

same, unless you are talking about a winchester model 88,

The cowboy style lever guns, are angled like they are,for using iron sights.

The model 88 is shaped more like a bolt action rifle.

Here's mine, it's about 15 years old. Put it on the floor of my boat and rode around. Scratched her up pretty good. Still shoots as smooth as a baby's arse

frick can't post pic.

Go with a Lyman or Marble’s tang sight. Looks great and very accurate.

You got some good friends there. Congrats on the friends, the rifle and the wedding.

To scope, or not to scope. That is a question. If I was to hunt with it I'd lean towards scoping it. If just plinking, I'd leave open sights. If you do scope it you have the right idea, something small and light. I actually have a Leupold rimfire scope on my 30-30 because it's small and light. Either way I'm jealous of that Henry.
