I love camping and have done a good bit of it in other states but never in Louisiana. Can anyone recommend some good spots preferably in southern part of Louisiana?

I don't know what is allowed there, but check on Avery Island,it's south of Lafayette. Really a beautiful place...except for the salt mine..that part isn't so pretty...in general though,it's a real pretty place.

Kisatchie is worth the drive

LOL Avery Island is a private island. Closed to public, except for tours. Plus ol' baw wouldn't last 5 minutes in that marsh with all the mosquitos

I went up off of Angola Rd with this chick last year. We went to that waterfall deal up Pickneyville Rd the next day. Was a pretty good trip. Can't remember the name of the place though

I don't know much about it,just went there once to pick up some salt. I thought it was nice, and the deer were about like pets.
Lots of awesome live oak trees.

I built a wooden-framed collapsible tent for the bed of my truck a few years back. You can bet your arse I built a spot for a window unit on the toolbox

Tunica Hills. The trail with the waterfalls is Clark Creek.
They have the private campground on Parker Rd, then a little bit past that place is the free public primitive camp site on Tunica Hills Wildlife Mgmt Area.
ETA: The Tunica Hills WMA camp site is “free” but you need to have either any valid LA hunting or fishing license or a wild Louisiana stamp

Pends on what ya call camping. if ya have a camper and it has an AC then Louisiana has a wonderful state park system google em the web has some nice pages with pics and such. If ya a tent and roughing it kind of camper same answer from late October to early April

Fausse pointe has some of the best secluded off the grid camping in LA. Some is only water accessible

Swamp coolers like that don't work well in Louisiana. You need the humidity to be really low so that evaporation can take place. That's how they cool.

Several Boy Scout Troops camp every month in tents. If you prepare you can still camp and have fun while doing it. I do recommend a battery operated fan at night.
I second checking out Kisatchie and Clark Creek Natural Area.
