I'm not even sure what direction they're going in. Johnny is a legit loser a-hole POS, so not sure how good of a protagonist he'll make.

Eta: His anti PC and other old school hardass comments are fricking funny though.

I am already on epi 7. This show is AWESOME. The nods to all three original movies are all over.

Yeah, Johnny would have been okay if he'd not held onto the "no mercy" mantra. Everything else is just him trying to make a living doing what he's good at.

I think the No Mercy is fine.

He's pissed at the world. His jobs sucked. And Daniel is still a total douche that rubs it in his nose.

Well, legally, "no mercy, strike first" counts as assault and battery. They're definitely making Johnny more human and likable, but he's still angry, and Daniel is kind of a dick. I think it will end up being the story of who assholes who, in different ways, couldn't let go of the past.

This series will almost certainly culminate with another, far more intense Johnny vs. Daniel showdown, maybe more than one.

I just finished out the last episode. This absolutely blew me away vs what the initial expectation was.

I just love how they are showing him super-famous throughout the greater Los Angeles Area.

Sure it was All-Valley which is a very large area...

But it's Karate. There were maybe 100 people at that tournament that included about 15 cities.

They're acting like he was some star QB at USC or UCLA that won the Heisman and won the Rose Bowl and everyone remembers him.

Have you found it? Being so new it may take sometime before someone hosts it..Terrarium TV already has a spot for someone to host.

Karate kid was always one of my childhood favorites.

With that said, I’ve watched the first 6 episodes. It started slow, but really picked up. I’m hooked. If I didn’t have to work tomorrow, I would have binged the entire thing. Incredible series and very well done. Can’t wait to watch the rest.

I watched the first two episodes last night, and really enjoyed them. It does have an 80's camp feel but modern. Ralph Macchio is 57 and looks to be in his 30's. It would have been cool if he had kept the car Mr. Miyagi had given him.

I agree, not like they couldn't find a car to use..

quote:

At a celebration of the 30th anniversary of Karate Kid at the Japanese American National Museum in 2014, Macchio said that the 1947 yellow Ford convertible his character Daniel receives from Miyagi in the first film is sitting in the garage at his home in southern California.

Laruso definitely stepped up in the babe department. His wife is smokin.

And Johnny's ex is Diora Baird.

Kid: I have asthma!

Johnny: *throws the inhaler against the wall and smashes it*

Not anymore! Take That asthma and peanut Allergy bullshite out of here.

Kid: but those Are legitimate medical issues!

Johnny: not in this dojo!
