I'm not calling for his job, but if we put together a string of subpar seasons I wonder how long it will drag on.
This season still has a chance to turn. It’s not a complete bust yet. If it doesn’t then it would probably take 2-3 more before the conversation even starts. People underestimate just how successful he has been in comparison to his peers.

Yes. To some on here Mainieri is a much better Coach than Skip ever was.

Miles - 2 Sec championships
Maineri- 4 + 6 SEC tournament championships
Miles - 3 BCS bowls
Maineri- 5 CWS
Last 5 years
Maineri- 3 CWS with a runner up
Miles - no BCS bowls No top 10 finishes
So they aren’t similar at all

College baseball is such a different sport now than it was in skips tenure that it truly makes no sense to compare the two.

I would think if we finish at or just below .500 in SEC play and fail to make it out of regionals for the next fews years, absent CPM trying to make some changes, that discussion will start.
You've got to allow him the opportunity to right the ship. We have a pitching issue, let him address it. If he doesn't, then yes it hastens that discussion.

Les o lyngot like 4 years of a BCS runner up and people were calling for his head basically from 1/9/12 on.

WTF? We were in the national title series less than a year ago.

Not to mention that all the stuff that Bertman did to build up the other schools in the state makes it harder on us to recruit under the new rules. We face more in state competition for talent than a lot of other schools because Louisiana doesn't produce a ton of talent and there are a lot of decently strong programs in state that can offer enough scholarship money to pull kids away from us that would have previously been here.

This is just patently false.

That 2009 title was a long time ago.

I understand frustration. Fans expect regionals and SR's every year like its Christmas morning.
This season is done. I have mentally closed this season and am working on other projects that is apart from LSU Sports.
The LSU run from 1996-2009 was awesome though. 3 baseball titles: 2 Football titles.,
Hopefully, one day, the younger generation will have the opportunity to witness something similar.
Coach Mainieri is a good coach. The talent and skill on this team right now is lacking. The ingredients are not there this season. We lost too much from the program.

This is stupid

Yes it was. And there's been some head scratching situations since then that make you take pause. Next year will probably determine if PM continues on with LSU.

Omaha is equivalent to the playoffs in football. You saying we would have fired Miles a year after making the final 4 playoff?

Why do you keep bringing up Skip in every post?

quote:How can you even make this comparison? PM was in the CWS Finals less than a year ago. How much time ran off Mile's clock between the back-door abortion on 1/9/12 and his ultimate dismissal (with the now infamous Alleva fire/no-fire)??
Does Manieri get a longer rope than Miles did?

This is as dumb as anything a hog fan has posted on this message board. And that is saying a lot.
