This. I was fully expecting Cap to bite the bullet and not Bucky.

This movie was fricking incredible.

I'm worn out, so that's all I can articulate for now, but holy shite.

Loved the scenes where Thor meets the GOTG. Starlord doing the fake accent and deep voice was really funny. Also them comparing who had a worse backstory was good.

Not sure why Hulk was so insistent on not helping but if he comes out in part two he should wreck shop.

Most average moviegoers aren’t hard core comic fans. Introducing new characters like captain marvel and Adam warlock in part two should be interesting. Not gonna be a lot of room for backstories. Although we got a hint of Adam previously I guess.

This would be somewhat sensible analysis if there were tons of mostly black superhero movies out there. But the risk in Black Panther was in producing the movie.

Sorry dude. Calling BS on this. There was zero risk in producing black panther. He was a big character in civil war that everyone loved and the movie took place in the MCU. By the time black panther came out, marvel could have put out a squirrel girl movie and it would have made 500 million WW.

I agree with your basic point that making a black hero movie with an all black cast is a risk in general, but not in the circumstances of black panther.

Is it time for Theories of how this all ends yet? I think I’ve got a pretty good one (roughly) worked out

And no, it’s not a dream and it’s not a cheap cop out... but I think it could lead to a very satisfying ending to a lot of these stories while leaving the door open for those left in Phase 4

Spoiler (maybe.... do theories count?)

1. They aren’t dead - There is a big distinction between the disintegrating characters and dead characters. Gamora May be the exception to this due to being the first person to die for the soul stone, but all those that disintegrated aren’t dead, their souls are within the soul stone

In the comics, the soul stone is different than the other ones in that it kind of opens up its own realm and dimension. This movie made it a point to show that with Gamora.

There’s also no way they’d kill off the cash cow known as Black Panther or the Guardians (since there are movies planned after this) so they have to come back in some way. This would make sense if that happens.

2. Doctor Strange saw how this had to play out - Strange is very very calculated. He wouldn’t have turned over the stone unless that’s what happened in the one future in which they won. That wasn’t a move to save Tony, that was a chess move to set everything else into motion that needs to come to pass.

3. Adam Warlock - in some form or fashion, Adam Warlock will have to be introduced into the MCU other than the teaser we got of him in the GotG2 post credit scene. I think this ends with him obtaining the gauntlet (as he does in the comics), freeing the souls from the soul stone, and using the reality stone to reconstitute their bodies... before dispersing the stones back into the cosmos.

Thanos can be defeated and he is defeated by using his pride and suffering against him mentally. This will probably be the route they go with which makes sense due to the depth of character Brolin brings to the table. Setting up Thanos’s psyche so deeply in this movie would have a huge payoff if that ultimately leads to his demise in the second movie.

Keeping Cap and Iron Man Alive is such a badass move by the MCU team because we’ve all been speculating that they die due to contracts being up. If this was some under the table move to keep them around for another movie so that the story stays unknown to us, the viewer, is huge. Having them die fighting Thanos once and for all or find peace or something at the end of the next Avengers would be a fitting conclusion to those characters storylines while letting other characters live on.

Now, HOW all of this comes to pass idk... but this would be a very logical way to take the plot in order to end, start, and modify the storylines for 70+ characters... on top of ending a 10 year story arc

I'll buy that. I'm not a comic book guy, but heavily invested in the MCU at this point.

I was wanting to post another Spoilers thread specifically to discuss where they go from here. Last thing I read was that May 3, 2019 is when Avengers 4 comes out. Is that still the plan? If so, then they're telling us that everyone "Phase 2" who was disintegrated (GotG minus Gamora, BP, Scarlet Witch, Spidey, not you, Vision) will all be back for some sort of resolution.

I'll take WhistlinDixie15's idea for now:
quote:

Obviously Spidey, T'Challa and the GotG crew will be back, as they all have movies coming out Avengers 4, which will supposedly wrap Phase 3. Spiderman Homecoming 2 will launch Phase 4. Between now and then, we have Ant-Man and the Wasp, Venom, (Deadpool 2) and Captain Marvel, yes?

Adam Warlock for MCU is a Sovereign creation, so will we not see him till GotG3? Or is the GotG presence on Earth now open the door for the Sovereign storyline to impact Avengers 4?

Yea but Hugo is 60 now, and the new guy is 36 so he’s got a longer shelf life moving into phase 4

I slept on this and I still can't get my thoughts together cohesively, and it's a good thing. I was worried the movie would have too much going on, and truthfully, it did. But it was the right stuff going on, stuff that will make this movie better each rewatch.

As far as what happens from here. Kind of pondered over Strange's decision, but I know he saw the one outcome that would let them defeat Thanos. I bet this vision has something to do with Ant-Man and Pym being a huge part of part 2, cause I'm pretty sure that when entering the Quantum Realm that one can manipulate time, right? This may be the outcome that Strange saw and knew was the only way.

But WOW, this movie delivered as much as I hoped it would.

How ya like dem apples, Rian Johnson?

Not really. After Iron Man we wanted an Avengers movie. After Captain America we expected an Avengers movie. After Avengers we expected a build up to a Thanos movie. Infinity War is what we’ve expected since Avengers. This movie is another step in a long process. As the process continues, we expect more. The surprise would’ve been if this movie had sucked.

Yeah, but save for Iron Man, those movies aren't that good. They're mediocre. I just had a hard time believing they could make Thor, Iron Man, and Captain America all work in one movie. I was going to give it a shot, but I don't think many had that much faith in it. You still don't understand my point.
