it works just as well if you use your hand to grab them by the scruff.

never thought of using a clip to perma freeze them though. that would make some claw clipping a bit easier.

It's why you can pick them up by that skin. Mother cats will pick up their kittens that way it doesn't hurt them at all

I've always picked our cats up by the scruff when needing to calm them. It definitely works on younger cats/kittens. Older , fatter cats, not so much.

a baseball bat or a gun does a much better job
