Half of the fans think we are an elite program that just needs a few things to go our way to be a top program again. They think we are a top 4 overall sec team.

The other half thinks we are so far gone that a complete rebuild of the football operation will be needed once o is fired. They think we are mid pack to back of the pack currently.

Honestly we are probably in the middle of the two extremes this board displays. We are no longer a top program nationally. The question what does is take and how long before we can return.

In my heart we’re still elite. But sadly I know in my head that we aren’t.

But how many years of O can the program take before we need a complete rebuild?

I see your point here, but the truth is, historically, LSU is a top 4 program in the SEC. The issue we've run into recently is that other programs appear to be hungrier. As it pertains to football, it just feels like the passion for excellence has dissipated at the leadership level at LSU.

I have figured out the problem with our football program: F King Alexander, Joe Alleva, Ed Orgeron.

LSU basically still has a load of talent, they were #6 or so in the nation for average ticket sales for last season and they finished 18th last year. But superior coaching and a dynamic offense are what they lack to be elite. Not exactly a new story, but anyway...

In my mind we are in a transition period with all phases of the program. I think what we saw yesterday offensively is what evero e has wanted to see. I think recruits and especially qb’s wanted to see. So offense is in transition as well as recruiting. I think the coaches are committed to bring this provram back to elite level as well. Tight ends running backs recei ers qb’s re ruits are seeing this transition. With a little patience i think this provram is trending up for a change

I always thought the problem was everyone thinks they're right and anyone who disagrees is an idiot.

This is not an elite program or anything close to it, and the HC/AD are punchlines to everyone outside of Louisiana and those with any sense at all still inside it

LSU is not a top tier "team" at this moment but I think that with our history and the competitiveness that the players and coaches show along with CURRENTLY HAVING THE MOST PLAYERS IN THE NFL, they are a top tier "program." Ask fans from other fanbases if they consider LSU a top tier program and I can guarantee you that outside the state of Alabama you would get 90% of them to say "yes, LSU is a top tier program." Also, when a team has won a minimum of 8 games per year for 17 straight seasons and currently have the longest streak for that; to me that is not mediocre. That is consistency. And to those who say that I am "settling" for this crap that Coach O is putting on the field....

I still think the program itself is elite. The team itself is not really elite though.

We have a top notch place to train for the next level, but seem to be missing the spirit to win every game.

Nothing wrong with the fan base that wouldn't have been cured if our HC wasn't losing four games against the weakest schedule in over ten years and producing the lowest ranked recruiting class in almost two decades.

Anything less than a west title and a win over Alabama is underachieving for LSU football or have we forgotten already?

Which is still a problem when the AD makes a shite show hire while stating he fired the all time winningest coach because the players deserve to compete at an elite level.

We're still an elite program people. You don't put this many guys in the league and spend this much then get referred to as a mediocre program. Still top 5 in the last 20 years. It hasn't completely faded yet. There's really only one program in the nation that's been year in and year out a power.

LSU can be as elite as it wants to be. Make no mistake, the ONLY thing LSU lacks is vision and leadership at AD and head coach.

Alabama was in the same boat before Saban. They just made up their minds to do whatever it took. When LSU does the same, they will stop with the half-measures and take a seat among the elite in short order.

We're a top 25ish program at the moment

With even slight improvement we're a top 10 program

We'll have no doubts about what type of program we are at the end of this season because of the strength of schedule is so stout. We will need to play like a top 10 school to have a chance of finishing 1 or 2 in the west.

Thankfully, I do not think the board is a true reflection of the fan base; lord, I hope not. Majority appears to be youngsters caught up in multiple championships over a short time span. They have no clue what the really “rough”times were like. Most have no clue what a play book looks like or ever set foot into anything other then a seat at the bar & rarely the stadium.
Oh, and do they give any thought to the fact that maybe, just maybe, that 5* QB recruit may red this board. Any chance, any, it may have some influence?
No, the dummies here are NOT fans. They ride the shirttails of winners & desert their teams when needed. So, so grateful these were not standing beside me in the Vietnam jungles or I may not be here to tell them all - “dummies”!

There’s no reason why LSU shouldn’t be an elite program. In state talent, facilities etc...
